NSV: "You look like you've always been tiny!"

  • So I had a bit of an interesting NSV today.

I went to the gym tonight for my weight training class. There were four new women there who were only taking the class for the second time. I had just upped the amount of weight I was lifting so I had quite a bit already out and set up.

One of the women remarked: "Ok, are you lifting your actual weight or something? How can you lift that, you're tiny!"

First NSV of the evening, I suppose. I'm still getting used to being called "tiny."

So we all started talking for a bit and I mentioned that I continually add to what I lift. One of the other women who is a regular and has known me a couple of years joins the conversation and says "hey you know she lost a lot of weight! You should listen to what she says!"

So I mention that I lost 80lbs and they gush over me, but they all say the following things:

"You look like you've always been tiny--I can't imagine you 80lbs heavier!"
"I thought you were just a thin person coming for the heck of it!" (lol)
    "You always weren't this way?!"

I assure them I even have pictures on my phone if they don't believe me, haha, but I was really struck by the "You look like you've always been tiny" comment. I don't know how someone who has always been "tiny" looks but apparently I look like that :P

Now for my stomach to lose the extra skin and catch up to my arms and legs

I should tell the owner of my gym that I can be a walking advertisement for her!
  • That's AWESOME, embrace it chicka!

I'll one up that tiny, I think you are pocket size!
Yup, you look Fantastic, capital F!

    Oopsie, I'm not a 20 something, more like 20 X 2 plus 5!
  • Congrats!!!! If this was Facebook I'd like it I cant' wait til the moment someone calls me tiny!
  • Yaaay! I love those comments! Granted, I don't feel tiny but my parents always call me skinny and I think to myself "just wait until I'm at my goal weight!" It is an amazing achievement to have lost all that weight, you should definitely be proud of yourself! You're an inspiration!
  • That's awesome!
  • Congrats! you already inspired me to pick back up weight lifting at work! Hopefully some of your inspiration will help me shred some pounds! Thanks for the post.
  • Yay...Haha freakin best feeling when someone tells you that. After all the hard work you put in, you seriously deserve it
  • That's such an awesome compliment! Congratulations....
  • Thank you so much everyone!

I am feeling the effects of that particular workout today! Haha! I always feel the weight lifting so much the second day, not the day right after.

  • That's really awesome!

And you know. A few months ago I told someone she looks like she's always been tiny. I don't know how to elaborate on that but it certainly didn't look like she had lost 100lbs. Which now that I think about it is a very good thing haha.
  • That is a great compliment! And it's true. You inspire me so much. I'm so happy for you, too. It's really great you were always comfortable in your skin.
