Good morning. This is another early start to the day. My power went out at 3 yesterday and stayed off until 4 a.m. Icy trees falling on wires will do that! The dogs and I went to bed around eight and I let them sleep with me as the upstairs was very cold without heat. It sure was cozy and they loved it.
We got rain followed by snow yesterday so things should be less slippery today. I may be able to get my car out of the barn and get some groceries. It would have been impossible yesterday. If I feel brave enough to go to town, I will get some batteries for my big flashlight which is sort of wimpy. It's hard to read at night by candle light! Maybe an Itty-Bitty Book Light would do?
So who knows what today will bring. I'm hoping to get some things stashed neatly in my storage area and also continue the Big Quilting Fabric sort.
How does your weekend look from this early morning perspective?
My morning is starting off right, with a good cup of STRONG coffee and a nice chat with you.
We're all going up to the Amish Smorgasbord for breakfast, once everybody's up and ready. So far, though, it's just Jake and I that are up and I do enjoy having my coffee in peace and quiet.
Later today, I am going to attempt to dye a shirt and a pair of jeans that I managed to stain with bleach. The jeans I don't mind, but it's one of my favorite t-shirts! I have them both soaking in color removal right now.
Other than that, I just have to wait and see what today has in store for me.
Got my first cup of coffee, feel bad because I slept in till 5:00. Up and at em now.
Ruth you can keep that weather, I do not like winter and least favorite thing is freezing rain on top of it. Just be careful. It is no fun being home with no power, bet the dogs were in seven heaven allowed to sleep with you. Sounds like you have really been tackling the fabric project. I did that last year, took before and after pictures of my room(you would think I was a hoarder), the before pictures were awful but it reminds me to put things away now.
Today I have to run into town and get dog food, we were suppose to get snow last night, but I see it passed over us. Then may do a little window shopping just because I feel special today, and maybe I will find something for me. Other than that I am hoping to have an enjoyable weekend.
Hey guys,
I'm typing this on my new MacBook Air, which came in yesterday. I had been working on an old IBook G4 that I got right before my son was born which means it was almost 8 years old! I couldn't even run the newest versions of the browsers I use on it. This little Air is cute and fun. I'm determined to learn all of its features so I can maximize it. Does anyone out there have an Air who could give me some hints?
Today we're driving up to my parent's house, which I posted about yesterday (sigh). Of course I couldn't sleep last night very well, woke at 4:30am. I've scheduled an acupuncture appointment for tomorrow when we get back which should help me unwind, then I'll attend the 5pm church service for more good vibes and hopefully be able to let go of my anxieties and worries by Monday morning. In any case we're staying at a hotel tonight, which means a hot tub and swimming, which should be fun. Hope everyone has a great day and a great weekend, just in case I can't check in tomorrow.
Good morning, Chickadeee. I am not a big fan of winter, either, although I think I'll enjoy it more when I'm retired and don't have to worry about the road conditions anymore. Have fun window shopping, and I hope you do find something extra special to treat yourself with!
Matilda! I'm sorry that I don't even know what you are talking about, as far as a MacBook Air goes. I hope your weekend with your parents goes well, and at least you have the hot tub to look forward to!

Good morning and happy weekend. The ice is gone and today looks like a lovely late January day. Think I'll try to get out for a walk.
Ruth - I hate power outages. Glad yours was only an hour. I often use one of those hiking head lamps for night time reading. It's much easier than a flashlight.
Cottage - Hope the dye does the trick. I've done that with bleach, what a mess.
Chickadee - I really hate ice too. I can manage in snow, I've spent my whole life dealing with it, but there's just nothing to do on ice. Happy window shopping
Matilda - It's so smart of you to stay at a hotel with a hot tub and pool. Those little bits of pampering must help get through the visit. I replaced a PC desktop with a laptop but similar age machines. It's been fun.
I'm going to try again to get to the little Co-op down the road. Yesterday DW had some stuff going on and even though I was gone the same amount of time I felt better being no more than 15 minutes away.
I am loving my Wii Just Dance game I got for Christmas. When I just don't have the energy to think about exercise I throw it in and it really is a heck of a workout. Not only is it a good amount of cardio, but I always feel better after. I'm such a klutz but that makes it more fun.
Time for list making and some breakfast. Happy Saturday Chicks
ETA - Good morning Debbie! I knew someone would pop-in while I plodded through this post
Cyndi, it went off at 4 PM and stayed off until the wee hours. (An hour would be a mere piffle!)
I just finished making a shopping list for new flashlight batteries and some propane for my wee indoor stove. I'm considering a Coleman lamp - the kind where I always touch the mantle and it disintegrates.
The crazy thing is that I have a $$$ generator sitting in the barn, NOT hooked up! Duh! When Paul built my new studio room, it was to be connected but the peckerhead electrician - who has since left town! - did not finish his job.

Well that does make more sense I hate those lanterns. I have one for camping and it always makes me very nervous. Don't know if I'd want one in the house. Check out the head lamps on Amazon, that might help at least with reading and getting around the house.
Ruth - Brrr! Nice to have the doggie furnace working last night. Be careful out there!
Linda - What a crafty solution. Enjoy breakfast. And the morning calm.
chickadee - I love that you feel special today!
Matilda - Wow - 8 years! Isn't that like 100 in computer years
Debbie - Brrr. Have you been skiing at all this winter?
Cyndi - That sounds like a fun way to get in a workout. I'm a klutz with stuff like that too but it just makes me laugh.
lees - Good for you! And, wow, your husband. I so hate how much easier it is for men
I'm going to try a yoga DVD from the library today. Jillian Michaels. Tonight we are going out to dinner with friends. I chose the place. It was recently reviewed in the paper and all the entrees are under 475 calories! And they make mini desserts. I looked up the nutritional info online to see what I should choose and then when I went to the menu to read the descriptions found out it is seasonal so none of the items were the same. Oh well.
Yesterday I tried another version of sweet potato chili. This one has cocoa powder and cinnamon in it. DH liked it better but I'm waiting until I eat the leftovers to decide. I always find the flavors in chile develop over time.
Off for more green tea now... Have a great weekend.
Hey Karen- let me know how that yoga DVD is! I have been looking for a good one to do at home. It is my busy season at work and I need some stress relief!
Happy Saturday from the Tiling Fools! We should be done laying tiles tomorrow. YAY! Monday Jeff will start with the grout.
Karen: One for the Money was GREAT! I didn't think the actors and characters would match either, but they did perfectly! When Morelli took of his shirt.... mmm mmmm
My meeting with the boss really went well yesterday. I stayed calm and composed -- voice only broke a little. He listened to my concerns and heard me. He also knows that I'm crazy underpaid and is going to work on fixing that. I'm so glad that is over.

I wasn't loving it. But it might just be that I am too distracted and unmotivated to do yoga at home. I'm going to try some netflix streamed ones next. And, she is much more about fat loss thru yoga and not at all about zen.
Chelby - In my imagination both Ranger and Morelli are yummmmmmy!
thanks for the review... just found out that there is a free yoga class at a church that is literally 2 blocks from my office 2 days a week! I think I know where I will be spending my lunch hour!
