Good Morning

We had an uneventful trip last eve but I'm still tired. I think I'll have some coffee this morning and head back to bed. I'm not sure exactly what is on today's agenda but I know it will include the pool. A hot soak sounds perfect.

Food has been good, and I clocked another 4.25 miles on the pedometer yesterday at work. I think I'll ride the exercise bike at the club and watch TV-I'm needing something kind of brainless.

What's on your agenda today? Stop and chat

Good morning, Debbie. Coffee needed here too although I did have a good night of sleep for a change.

Gym this morning and I'll give the leg a bit more time on the treadmill. (I do have a treadmill here and should really give it a 15-20 minute walk on days I don't do gym.) After that I need to dress up the dogs a bit for Robbie Burns day at the Clinic. The clients really like it when I do that for special occasions. You'd think I'd have some tartan fabric for bows but ...

We seem to be back to normal January weather today after a major melt. My lane yesterday morning was a wading pool which turned into a lovely smooth skating rink by late afternoon. Greg, my young neighbour, came over and sanded part of it as it froze - a great help although my Yak-Traks have kept me pretty stable when going out there. It's a great relief to have all the steps cleared of the ice.

Time for a healthy smoothie - I bought blueberries and spinach when I was in town yesterday.

Happy Hump Day!

Debbie - hope you get your soak in. Sounds lovely!

Ruth - pictures of the doggage!! So good of your neighbor to sand it for you. I kept debating if I should have a smoothie for breakfast, sounds so yummy!

Yesterday turned out to be a full day of work, but I got a good swim in before work. I was going to do my strength workout last night, and forgot until *after* I had my glass of wine, which would definately not work!

Today is a school meeting before work, then who-knows-what after work. We're flying out to see my parents Friday, so I need to prep the house for the pet sitter. At lease I scrubbed out the litter boxes Monday....

Have a good day y'all!

Ruth, have fun at the clinic! I love dressing up the pups! I have blueberries, too...my smoothie will include BB's and apple for fruit....spinach, beet, carrot, ginger and cucumber for veg.

Twynn, I hope you're able to pace yourself and get everything done this week. It sounds like you got the worst job out of the way first. I chuckled, wine and weightlifting don't sound like a great combo.

I simply MUST get myself to the store for more extra dark and bold K-cups! This morning I'm drinking Tim's Donut Shop, and although it's good, I like to start my morning with something a LOT stronger!

Anyway, Good Morning!

Ruth, how will you dress the furbabies for Robbie Burns Day? I sure am looking forward to a nice snuggling with those pups. Hmmmm, I have Yax Trax, should I tuck them in my suitcase?

Debbie, I hope you were able to get a little more sleep!

Today's my short day, and it's a good thing since I forgot that I have a big bag of brussels sprouts that need to used soon. I plan to shave them and roast them slowly in the oven with some garlic-infused olive oil, butternut squash, and walnuts. I'm looking forward to that!

Cottage, definitely yes to Yak-Trax as they could be needed and how the heck do you "shave" Brussels sprouts? Would Nair work?

Twynn, you sound like you are slipping into overdrive. Glad you did the litter boxes - brings back many memories of my 22 year old cat, Marigold.

No idea what to do for the doggies for Robbie Burns Day. The colours of Scotland are blue and white so they may end up with bows in those colours. You'd think I'd have some sort of tartan somewhere in my huge fabric collection! I can't even find and old plaid shirt!

Linda, yippee for a short day! Your dinner sounds spectacular! I wish now, that I would have brought one of my butternuts over with me. No, I did not go back to sleep. I took a detour.....I hope your day passes quickly. In just a few weeks we'll be sitting down to Survivor again.

LOL! I don't think Nair would be very tasty on my brussels sprouts.
To 'shave' them, I slice each one into 3 or 4 slices. They are really good that way.
I'll definitely pack my Yak-Trax then. Am I completely crazy, going to Canada in mid February????

Debbie, I am SO looking forward to a new season of Survivor. When does it start up again? Another show I'm looking forward to is The Amazing Race.

Morning, Twynne!

Feb 15th. Kirk won't watch AR so I've never gotten into it. Survivor is definitely more fun to watch with a "buddy".

Good morning Well it's another day up around the freezing mark with sun. I can't complain about the winter. The titmice are so noisy this morning it's their spring mating call not the predator in the yard call. We've barely had a winter but I'm still ready for spring. Maybe I'll spend some time with my garden notebook. Can't start planning too soon

Debbie - wow, serious mileage at the job. Your smoothie sounds like perfect start to the day.

Ruth - I second the request for pictures.

Twynn - I've done that with wine. I try to make the wine my reward for an on plan day with exercise but some days I forget the exercise part until the glass is poured

Cottage - Canada in February? You are brave! Those brussels sprouts sound delish.

Anyone have an interesting recipe for beets? I usually just roast them but I have some that need to be used up today and I just had roasted beets the other day.

Today I send the oxygen supplies back to the company and cancel the visiting nurses+. Next week DW will start PT out of the house. It will be nice for her to get out more.

She did great yesterday through appointments and a very long conversation with her primary care doc. The doc gave us some ideas for resolving our issues with the hospital neuro team. Hope we can make something work. There are so many good things about this medical facility and we have some great advocates there, unfortunately the hospital neuro team are just awful and made things so much harder for me than they needed to be. If we can't figure something out we probably won't use the inpatient facility there again.

Today will be quiet day. I'm sure DW will sleep most of the day. She did great yesterday but it exhausted her. I've got busy work for a 2/4 conference so that will keep me occupied and quiet

I'm thinking about hunting for blueberries in my freezer now. I love the freezer space but really hate the chest freezer. I know I have lots of blueberries in there though so I'm off to find them. Happy Hump Day

Good morning!

I admit it - I've never watched an entire episode of Survivor or even a smidge of AR. But I did enjoy Expedition Impossible, one season last year, since one of the teams had a girl from my teen's school.

I'm going to try chair yoga with my mom today. We took it on our spa trip and I found a class locally, but it's not a great time and is a bit of a drive. My mom has a bad knee so can't (or won't) do traditional yoga. I have now ridden my bike indoors two days in a row! I did a whole whopping 10 minutes yesterday. I hate it on the trainer. But, honestly, I am also being very intentional in starting slowly and building gradually. If my calf seems okay, I'll happily try the elliptical again. Never thought I'd long for that darn thing!

Anyone know how Heidi is? I've been wondering about her lately.

Okay, off for more decaf green tea.

Karen, I really enjoy chair yoga! I can't really keep up in a traditional class and it gives me all kinds of ideas for better posture and for spontaneous streching. I sent a wave Heidi's way on FB this morning.

Cyndi, glad to hear you had such a good day yesterday. I hope you get some work done while DW is sleeping. I'm not creative with beets. I put a piece in my smoothie every morning and also put very thin slices in my salad. Hope you find your blueberries. Mine are fresh and organic from WF right now. I splurged.

Yikes seems like I cannot seem to make it here early anymore, most really try.

Debbie- sounds like you are doing great op and exercise wise- I used to watch Survivor but have not watch in a few seasons I do watch Amazing Race love that show.

Ruth- glad that your ice was removed and the driveway sanded for you

cottage- enjoy your dinner

Cyndi- yeah for no oxygen anymore.. hope you can work out your issues with the one department.

Twynn- hope you get everything done quickly

Karen- it's great that you are moving slowly back to cardio

I have a bit over one week to go and then off to California for a week, hope I can keep eating op while I am gone, will try to plan and bring some op food with me. I fell into a bag of wheat thins last weekend (it was better than the fresh Krispy Kreme donuts I was smelling and wanted) the next day I was up 4 lbs, happily they are now gone and I am back on track, went to Trader Joe yesterday and stocked up on some more good food.

Have a great afternoon everyone

Hey All,

Well, last night was a very sad success. Bella is now in Kitty Heaven, beating the snot out of playful Siberian huskies. Anna has been very quiet about it all, but loudly voiced that she didn't want to go with us to the vet, so she went and played Wii with her cousin while Chris and I took Bella in. I, of course, was a horrific mess through the whole thing...... like her or not, she was a living thing with thoughts and feelings. Chris was stoic throughout the entire process. She went very peacefully, almost like she knew what was happening and had accepted it.... and Voodoo seems a bit confused, and has sniffed around for the kitty, but hasn't acted too mournful, which I'm thankful for.

So today I'm swollen, tired, and on top of it, I think I'm getting a cold. Started on the Zicam this afternoon. My eyes are burning and my throat is sore. It's probably due to the stress of yesterday, so I'm going to get as much sleep as I possibly can tonight. If only we had some rum..... I'd drop some in some chammomile tea, throw on sweats and socks, and sweat it out tonight. "Hardest" thing I have at home is Bailey's, and I don't think a shot of Irish Creme has the same effect.... or a glass of wine........ so I suppose I'll just skip the alcohol altogether and hope for the best.

Hope everyone is having a fabulous day!

Lisa
