Default The Divorce Diet didn't work in the end!

The only thrilling part of the divorce was the initial 55 lb weight loss . However, it didn't stay off. Eighteen months post divorce, I found that I ballooned back up to 205 lbs. (5'6"), had stopped working out and took up smoking of all things. First things first, I quit smoking, which was not easy and took awhile. Somewhere over the summer I developed some goals - I wanted to see Mt. Everest (no kidding), to go back to graduate school, to lose weight and start dating. At the end of September I started working out with a trainer. The progress has been nothing short of miraculous, I am now able to jog on a treadmill for 30 minutes and press 220lbs with my legs!!! However, the diet which I started November 17th is proving to be the harder then studying for the GRE. The obesity specialist MD that I visited has me counting calories, 1500 kcal/day, while staying aware of carbs. Though I have lost 13.5 pounds (I have 46.5 lbs to go) as of this am, I am disappointed in the rate. I work out like a dog! I count everything that goes into my mouth and there are weeks in which I only lose .5 lb. In fact, there have been two weeks in which I gained, yuk. So, I decided that I need a supportive community to help me along. I am not sure how to get started with all of this so I plopped myself down into introductions. So hello out there. I was wondering if there was a forum for folks needing to lose 50 to 100 lbs? - Laughinghiker

If I am understandimg you correctly, you have lost 13.5 pounds since Nov 17. That is approximately 4.5 per month.
That is a great loss !

Congrats on your success so far! Don't let the rate get you down too much, you are making progress and that is really awesome!

If you check in the support groups area, you'll likely find several groups with similar goals to help you through the rough times. Good luck to ya!

Welcome this is a great community to start at, lots of helpful supportive people here.

One thing you need to remember tho...the scale can very much be an @sshole. Just because you're not seeing the weight shred off doesn't mean you aren't losing the inches. If you're working out like you say you are your probably gaining more muscle and remember muscle weights more than fat!

Theres a fourm here that's 100+ I do believe, theres also forums for people around your age etc...just check around the site!

Again welcome to 3FC!

Hiker, welcome, glad to have you join us. Congratulations on quitting smoking and the weight you have lost so far. I suggest you look for a Challenge or Support group to join; small check-in groups make it easier to connect, get involved, and be accountable. We have groups centering around specific diet plans, themes, or age groups, so find one that inspires you and just post to join! Be sure to check out the Calorie Counters, Exercise, and Reduced Carbs for a start.

Sometimes small tweaks make the difference. I was having trouble with my weight loss despite lots of exercise and eating healthy portions and healthy foods. My doctor looked at what I was eating and told me to cut my carbs in half. She said I could replace the carbs with protein, but cut the carbs in half. That tweak kick started my weight loss.
