Default How would you count this?

Last night we went to a restaurant opening that was by invitation only. They served a preview of their menu, by bringing out 'one bite' samples of each dish, a course at a time. There were probably 4 appetizer samples, 6 entree samples and a couple of dessert samples. I have no idea how I should count this! Does anyone have any suggestions? Seems like I remember awhile back about someone posting about their "one bite system" where they counted a set number of calories for each "one bite" of something they ate. Can anyone help me out please?

ooof... this is a hard one..

Any idea what fraction of the full serving your bite was????

If you are able to say that you ate 1/8 of a full serving and know the approximate calorie count of each dish you could figure it out that way...

thats a tough one. I would ask for the nutritional menu and depending on how big it was take a 1/4 or 1/8 or the serving amount.

but honestly i would also say its still not going to be accurate. So take it as a cheat day or a treat day. Even when I have these days I try to still count what I can and guestimate. So I would still try to record but it probly wont be accurate. : ) Thats sound fun though. And Keep up the good work!!!

I would do one of two things.

One possibility: I would assign a reasonable-sounding but arbitrary number to each "bite" depending upon its size and richness, say 75 calories.

Another possibility: I would forget about it and move on. If it was a one-time, one-day thing, it doesn't really matter how many calories I ate - I ate them, and writing them down accurately isn't going to change that. So, I'd just move on according to my plan.

No matter what you do it is going to be an estimate, don"t worry about it and move on.

To be honest, I would have just said "eff it." and not counted and just make sure my portions were reasonable. I've had a few days here and there where it just would have been too much of a hassel.

I make sure that if I know these occasions are coming up that my breakfast and lunch are slightly lower (or I eliminate my snacks) and have plenty of calories left over.

If you're over or under for one day it isn't going to matter all that much One day when you're slightly off plan for a meal won't undo the many other days that you are on plan.

those two possibilites were exactly what I was going to say... No. 2 would have been my first choice...
