    to the January exercise thread! We're making exercise a habit, giving ourselves some accountability, and getting healthier in the process!

    In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves (I personally will not exercise much without a goal). If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month!

    To keep track, just add your minutes to the existing group’s minutes. If you’re new, look at what other people are doing – it’s pretty easy to figure out! To help everyone keep things straight, please note the OLD minutes and the number of NEW minutes you are adding, such as
    Group total ~ 500 + 50 = 550 minutes.
  • Thanks, Heather, for getting us started. I am so ready for a New Year's resolution to get me re-started with exercise.

    My goal for January is a minimum of 15 minutes of intentional exercise daily, or a total of 465 minutes minimum. I'd much rather get to 1000, but I want to set a manageable goal, and I haven't really been in the exercise habit since about September.

  • I'm going for 600 min this month. I used to do so much more but a bigger number intimidates me right now.

    20 min today!

    Group total ~ 15 + 20 = 35 min!
  • I'm going to aspire for 1,000 minutes this month as we're going to be on vacation for 2 weeks.

    60 minutes water aerobics
    60 minutes Zumba

    Personal Total: 120 minutes

    Group Total: 35 + 120 = 155 minutes
  • 15 minutes today, indoors as it was freezing outside.

    Personal: 30/465

    Group total: 155 + 15 = 170
  • 20 minutes stepmill
    15 minutes treadmill
    60 minutes personal training

    Personal Total: 120 + 95 = 215 minutes

    Group Total: 170 + 95 = 265 minutes
  • 20 minutes kettlebells

    January Personal Total: 20 minutes

    Group Total: 265 + 20 = 285 minutes
  • 15 minutes yesterday, in the cemetery again, but DH was walking slow due to sciatica so I didn't do any power walking. BRRRR.

    Personal: 45/465

    Group total: 285 + 15 = 300 minutes
  • Got 30 min on the treadmill this morning. I would have gone longer but was running late. Felt good.

    Personal total ~ 20 +30 = 50

    Group total~ 300 +30 = 330 min
  • 60 minutes step aerobics

    Personal Total: 215 + 60 = 275 minutes

    Group Total: 330 + 60 = 390 minutes
  • 15 minutes indoors. Couple more days and I'm going to up that daily number.

    Personal: 60/465

    Group total: 390 + 15 = 405
  • 45 minutes - YES! Will set a goal later this week.
  • 30 Minutes kettlebells

    Personal total: 20 + 30 = 50 minutes

    Group total: 405 + 45 (added for gggirls) + 30 = 480 minutes
  • 20 minutes today, and gosh, it was almost too much. I guess I'll stay at 15-20 until 20 feels easy.

    Group total: 480 + 20 = 500 minutes
