Default UTI or Bladder or Kidney infection issues: help!

Four week ago I started feeling very, very tired all the time. I wasn't sure what was going on and convinced myself I might have a mild case of mono. About two weeks in I started having low fevers (99-100) that would come and go during the day, and near migraine headaches. I also had "gastrointestinal issues."

I went to my campus clinic and they found white blood cells/blood in my urine. From this they decided I probably had a UTI. I didn't have any burning or anything that would have made me associated headache/tiredness/low fever with UTI, however. They gave me a week of Cipro.

It worked for sometime. I wasn't tired and my fever went away. My normal temperature was 97.5-98. However, now five days after stopping it, my low fever is back. It's about 99-99.7 every now and then. Paradoxically it seems to kick in whenever I'm up and moving. For example, after laying in bed for awhile I don't have a fever. Standing up and playing a violin or walking to class, I have one. I'm tired again. However, I don't feel feverish at all, maybe because this has been going on for so long. I'm also having my first burning sensations, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense, and gastrointestinal issues.

Anyway have any idea what this is? I'm learning that UTIs are not associated with fevers. However kidney and bladder infections typically have fevers that don't go away and are over 101 degrees fahrenheit. However the headaches could be explained by an infected kidney not properly filtering toxins. I can't go to the doctor's until next Monday because it is closed for holiday, and am a little bit concerned because apparently whatever this is isn't going to go away on its own, and somehow wasn't taken down by a very powerful antibiotic.

If you had a bladder infection you would feel the need to urinate very frequently and not be able to squeeze out a drop and there is a lot of pain with it and it just keeps repeating. Try drinking cranberry juice and lots of water. I would see the doctor as soon as I could, though.

Not always. I've been diagnosed (doctor, urine test, labs) without the telltale constant need and burning.

Agreed, cranberry and doctor is in order. Azo or Uristat until then if it makes you more comfortable, but it's not a cure.

Please get back to the doctor. We can guess based on our own experiences, but even if we had very similar symptoms, your case might be different.

If it is an infection, it might have built up some immunity over the course of Cipro and you might now need a stronger drug or something specific to your infection. But it might also be that you've had two separate issues... maybe you've caught a virus while your immunity was suppressed. But again, a follow up visit is the best way to help get you back on the right road to good health.

Good luck!
