Hey everyone! I found this site while researching Metabolic Research Centers... I haven't contacted them yet, but am going to schedule a consult since it is free.
I am 26 years old & just had my third child, a girl , in February of this year. I reached 247lbs, gaining nearly 70lbs. Before I got pregnant I was overweight and losing successfully with diet and exercise following 2 weeks of phentermine.
Well, after I had my daughter I could not get the weight off fast enough. In the past, after my sons were born, I lost it FAST. So I went to my Dr. and asked for phentermine. She was reluctant, but after making me promise to have lab work done, she wrote the script. . . Well, I should have had the lab work!
The 2 weeks of phentermine she prescribed did not work AT ALL. Not one pound! And I was barely eating, and what I was eating was healthy. No soda, no artifical sweetners, hardly any carbs... AND on top of that, I was doing the P90X program!
Well, here is where I divulge TMI in my FIRST POST!

lol.. So 2 weeks into P90x, I get my TOM...but it doesn't stop!! So after 4 weeks of P90X I was getting exhausted, seeing no results, and had a TOM that would not end.
I called my OBGYN up and told him I needed to be seen. He told me that "this is your body getting back on track".... I knew he was wrong because I knew my body, and I told him such.
Well, he prescribed me some progesterin and ordered lab work. Oh, but I went this time! I figured, why not, it's free with my insurance, and if I just shelled out $60 for a copay I was gonna get all I could out of it!
The next day, my OBGYN personally called me to tell me my TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) was insanely high - at 224. I didn't know what that meant, but he said I need to follow up with my PCP.
I met with her the next day, and she had me retested. My results came back 242 the following day. I found out that the "normal range" is between 0.45-4.50 for the test the lab did. Man, I was WAY out of range! That's why I felt like crap! (Google Hypothyroid/Autoimmune Thyroiditis for details).
After my diagnosis, my dr. put me on Levothyroxine 100mcg, a thyroid replacement therapy. I will be on it for the rest of my life, but now after 8 weeks I feel FANTASTIC!My TSH was at 14

(I like the dancing carrot) in mid July, and I go back next week for another lab. I have energy, I'm not gaining weight (not losing, but honestly have not been trying until I got under control) and am ready to get back on track.
Well, off to do my stair walk (at work, up 5 flights in a seldom used stairwell, skipping one step in between), I hope to be around here often, but working out more often!!
