Most depressing thing just happened....need somewhere to vent..
So...
My boyfriend and I went shopping today to pick up some clothes for our vacay we are leaving for on Friday. He was thrilled because he went down a size and I was so happy for him.
Anyway, he left for work and for some reason I decided to try on the jeans he bought today....and I COULD NOT BUTTON THEM.
This time last year he was 100lbs heavier than me...he's been working hard and lost 30lbs and I've been...well, out of control and gained 30lbs.
Thankfully I've got an amazing, wonderful boyfriend who loves me regardless but MAN, what a wake up call. Not gonna lie, pretty depressed right now.
Sorry you feel down! The thing about guy's jeans, though, is that they're built for guys. Women have curves and thus need jeans to accommodate them. I find that, when trying on men's jeans or shorts, I have to go to a 38 or 40. I'm a 16-18 in women's. Don't feel bad...these pants aren't meant to fit women like they do men.
I totally hear you guys, I'm definitely comfortable having hips and a butt (I'd rather have less tummy, but ya know)
I think I'm just so used to him being significantly bigger than me (it's been that way the bulk of our relationship) I've got to deal with my own insecurities now that he's getting noticed a lot more.
My boyfriend gave me a pair of his old boxers to wear as jammies. I tried them on once, without him looking, and vowed that I would never wear them! The flap of fabric that they utilize when they have to go pee stretches out to a gaping hole when I put them on. The fabric is so thin, as it is, I'd probably rip them if I moved around too much.
Just as awaiting mentioned, though, guys (majority) have no fatty thighs blocking the way or hips...that's why you see guys that can wear a size 32 waist, but have a huge belly that overhangs to their knees....So, don't sweat it...but I totally can empathize!
My brother has lost a lot of weight. He's 6'3ish and wrestled at 263 in middle school and played D-line in high school (as a big beefy guy). He's now a senior in college and weighs 195 (190 on a good week). He says the absolute highest number he's ever seen is 280. He's been 195ish for the past 2 years now.
I'm 24 and my weight has fluctuated between 175-195 over my entire teen/adult life. Then two years ago my weight started creeping up into the 210s and 220s. I suddenly found myself weighing more than my Bro. Anyway, I'm 5'10 and a mini goal of mine is to weigh less than him.
For Christmas last year I got him a few new pairs of jeans because his old ones were falling off him (36-36). I bought him some 34-36 jeans and decided to try a pair on before wrapping them. I couldn't even get them over my thighs. They ended up being too big on him. He now needs 32-36 jeans and the store doesn't even carry this size waist in long. He's so thin he needs to order his jeans online, and STILL wants to lose another 20 pounds.
In all seriousness though, knowing my own brother lost 85+ pounds is crazy motivating. He looks good too (no loose skin). Hopefully we'll both be crazy thin soon.
Agreed! Do you want a boy body? There shape is so much different.. well for sure mine is, i have hips/legs/butt ..
My husband has always been smaller.. it dosent bother me.
agreed. I mean my bf is much smaller then me, and it doesn't bother me too much, unless I stop to think about it.
I remember when boyfriend jeans were starting to pick up around 2009 and I bought a pair of guy jeans because i couldn't find any I liked for women.
I tried them on, and I couldn't even get them to button! and they were a 34X34. I was so upset by it.
but I know I have wider hips, a rounder tummy, and guys are straight up and down, and I would never pick straight up and down over my curves.
I can relate.....I am not that big but i am what anyone would call "thick in the hips" not that i like the term at all either but i have a big butt and thunder thighs...my boyfriend wears a size 38" because he likes his pants really loose....(the style i guess) i tried on his pants and the sad thing was they werent that big on me....they did fall off my waiste but not my booty. I feel you girl but us women have HIPS.... I am also struggling to not catch up to my boyfriend in the weight deparment...so far i am only 15lbs less But we can do this girl!!
Well heres the weird things about mens pants. I got a pair of work pants which are a size 34 (mens) because the guy who measured me was an idiot and made me get a 36 because thats what I came out to with the tape. well I'm a size 29 in jeans (womans) jeans and I just put on the size 34 (mens) pants yesterday to try them on (because I wear different pants to work that semi fit me but are a size 12 but still too big, but look better then the tailored crap) and they still were a little tight on me. Talk about depressing. haha stay away from men's clothing! haha
I agree with what others have said - men are skinnier than women naturally so I wouldn't worry about it! I have a thin, fit in shape boyfriend and one of my goals is to be able to wear his t-shirts and have them baggy on me, not tight like they are now!!
I can echo what everyone else says about boys being built differently (soooo differently!). My boyfriend is about 5lbs heavier and 4+ inches taller than me - when I'm having a good scale day and stretching! He is rail thin! - and I can't get his jeans past my thighs. He wears a men's 30'' waist and I wear a woman's 29'' waist, so it really has everything to do with how we're built. I will always have bigger thighs and wider hips and a rounder booty than him! As long as you are going down in YOUR pant size, his don't matter Ditch his jeans and wear one of his shirts or something instead. Far sexier anyway! Hehe.
