My name is Anna and I just joined the forum yesterday. This looks to be a great community and will be a good resource when I need advice and encouragement.
A bit about myself:
I'm 21 years old and live in East Tennessee. I've always been obese, my highest weight was this past August--252.2 (and I'm only 5'2!). My previous attempts at losing weight hadn't been serious enough. I started this past January, logging my food on a online food journal, nutrimirror.com (it's free for anyone who is interested). So far I've lost 16.8 lbs. Eventually, I'd like to arrive at a healthy weight, but for now, I'm just focusing on one mini goal at a time. Right now I'm watching the scale for when I can celebrate a loss of 20 lbs.--hopefully that will happen in a couple weeks.

Hi, my name is Lorri and I started this forum today after searching for a 3 hour diet forum. I am 43 and weight 162 pounds, which is the most I have EVER weighed, even pregnant. The 3 hour diet makes sense to me, as back when I was a skinny person I ate about that often, and never had to even think about my weight.
I am curious if anyone knows how much flax oil we should have daily? The book says 1 tablespoon, or 4 capsules, but does not say how many milligrams/grams per capsule.
I haven't heard of that diet, so I can't offer any advice. Why don't you try posting in the "General Diet Plans and Questions" section? You might get a better response.
Anna, that's smart, focusing on a mini-goal rather than the whole thing. I think it makes it less overwhelming. Congratulations on your progress so far. I hope you get to celebrate that 20 soon.

I know, right? I keep a document on my computer that has about 40 mini goals on it--which is not as much as it sounds, considering I have half my body weight to lose! I pick certain benchmarks to celebrate (BMI/weight under a certain number, lost x lbs., etc.). Certain points I reward myself--for instance every ten pounds I buy myself a new pair of shoes (I'm pretty cheap though, so I shop for a good deal). So far I have a really cute pair of flats from Amazon (they were on sale for $15, originally $40). That's another reason why I can't wait to hit -20 lbs!

Congrats on the weight loss so far and for keeping it off! I'm at 250 right now and have been loosing and gaining 15 pounds for the last few months, so I started today so I have some accountability :-P Also, that's such a smart idea to reward yourself with each benchmark! I should start doing that as well!
Hello again! This was my introductory post back when I first joined 3FC, but I didn't really do anything. I don't know much about forum posting--will this bump it up to the first page? I'll find out I guess. Anyways, I'm back and gained only 5 lbs. this entire year (which for me is practically maintaining). 2012 is going to be the year that I'm not giving up! I'm a college student, so don't know how much time I'll have to spend on here, but I hope to drop by from time to time.
Anna, welcome, glad to have you join us. I suggest you look for a Challenge or Support group to join; small check-in groups make it easier to connect, get involved, and be accountable. We have groups centering around specific diets, themes, or age groups, find one that inspires you and just post to join! Be sure to check out the 20-somethings!
