Reintroducing myself to Caliorie Counters (x-posted)

  • A couple years ago now I was here and lost 60lbs. Some of you may remember me. IT was so helpful to have this community. I spent 99% of my time right here in calorie counters and right here is where I will spend most of my time again.

Since then I had a BABY!!!!! Yeah, anyone who remembers me knows that we had been TTC for 7 years!!! Well Lilly arrived October 28th, 2010 healthy and happy despite me developing pre-eclampsia and being on both strict home and hospital bedrest for 8 weeks.

On March 27th I went to the Emergency Room after enduring 12 hours of agonizing pain for the 5th time since having Lilly. It was very quickly discovered that I was passing a HUGE gallstone that was stuck in the duct. Many tests that day determined that my gallbladder was completely filled with gallstones and my liver was becoming toxic due to the backup. I had my gallbladder removed on March 28th via Laproscopic surgery. I am recovering really well.

During the surgery and due to my blood work the surgeon was able to determine that my liver is enlarged, inflamed, fatty and scarred. They prediction is that with proper diet and exercise I can reverse most of the liver damage. The doctors want me to get back down to 140lbs, which I was close to when I got pregnant.

This community was so helpful to me last time it was only logical to come back again. I have a few new obstacles this time. Recovering from surgery means I cant work out again for a few more days, then I need to take it slowly at first. I am a busy mommy now. I am a breastfeeding mommy now and would like to continue that, however if I start to lose weight and my milk supply starts to dwindle we have already decided that it is far more important that Lilly has a healthy alive mommy and we would be willing to switch to formula if necessary.

I ordered a new bodybugg, it will be here today. I had a GoWearFit but somehow I lost it. I am excited to get started again. I got my jogging stroller so that me and Lilly can start going daily walk and eventually runs. DH is almost done with school so he can spend more time taking care of baby and I can join the gym in may. I have medical orders now to change up my diet to a much more healthy eating style again.

I have a 4 week post op appointment the day after easter when my surgeon is going to set me up with a Gastro doctor, a new General Practioner, and a nutritionist that my insurance is going to pay for me to see once a month.

So after writing this long book of a post. I am so happy to be back, so ready to get back into the weight loss groove!
  • hi and welcome back. I use to post on the calorie counters also but stopped counting and recording and just tried to eat right...results is I have gained back over 30lbs. For some reason I tend to see what is helping others and try it for myself.I truly think counting calories and daily exercise is the only way I can lose. So IM back also.
    Lets do this!!
  • I know that, lol! When I got pregnant I went to a nutritionist a couple times, counted calories the first few months even. Then I just started trying to eat right and my weight gain really jumped up, about 35lbs. Since having my daughter I have actually gained instead of lost. Counting calories keeps me in check, and being here keeps me accountable.
  • Welcome back... I am "new" to this board. I am also doing weight watchers (more CCing though).

I just wanted to say, congrats on your baby! I had PE with my first son, and thankfully didn't have to do do bedrest since it came on at 38 wks. But my BP was scary high, per my MIL who is a nurse. Then with my 2nd I was induced at 37 wks since my BP was creeping up. Very scary stuff, but I empathize with that whole ordeal!

Good luck with your new journey! And from a mama who wasn't allowed to BF due to the meds I was on post delivery, formula works just fine. You have to be around for your baby girl!
  • Hi! Welcome back. I've only been on this forum for about 3 weeks so I won't know you from before. All I can say is good luck and if you ever need a helping hand...You know where we are!
