I had the same issue, I eliminated processed foods, no deli meats, canned foods or frozen foods, which all are high in sodium. Although, I found a Low sodium roasted turkey breast by Hillshire Farms and I eat is sparingly. That's the extent to my processed food that i eat, everything else i eat is fresh meat and veggies, greek yogurt ( my fave). It is hard, good luck!

It's not hard if you cook for yourself....if you eat out or eat alot of processed/canned foods, it's not just hard, it's impossible. If you want to eat lower sodium and drop that weight fat...pre-cook your meals and freeze them. When you cook, measure your sodium and divide your portions appropriately. This way, you'll know exactly what is going into the foods you are eating. For me...this is KEY to losing weight/fat.

Much success!

I am having the same issue. I understand that some people can get rid off all processed foods but I am a working mother with a family on a budget. Can you guys please give me some examples of what you eat for lunch and dinner besides salads and baked chicken that are low sodium? Also is sodium really that much of a factor when trying to lose weight?

I agree in a way it is easy but also, it is hard in the sense that you have to put forth the effort to plan ahead for meals. Loosing weight is hard in its self. I think that once one makes it a routine and/or habit to pre cook food then it becomes easier as time goes on

Another option is you may have an item that is a little higher in sodium but the key is to watch what else you eat throughout the day

I bought a Dutch Oven last year. I make loads of soups and stews, and both me and my husband take those to work. I also freeze them in portion size containers; that way I have variety each week.

Right now I have in my freezer; chili, tortilla chicken soup, lemon and rice soup with chicken, and split pea soup with ham. All yumm-o, and not that difficult to throw together. And because I make them, I control all that goes in.

It has saved us a ton of money, and my husband can actually leave a bit earlier each day, because he eats at his desk, and have more family time

I also cut all veggies when I bring them home. I have been taking cucumber slices and tomato slices to work...a lot healthier that chips

I actually feel I am saving time in many ways by being a bit pro active

I try to avoid as much sodium as possible and I cook from scratch when I can. But I still buy some things and have been really surprised by the differences in sodium between brands. Take salsa, for example. Most prepared salsas contain a lot of sodium. I found Frog Ranch salsa which has 40mg sodium per serving, which is 1/5 to 1/10 of the sodium of a lot of brands. I prefer the taste, too, and use it like a salad dressing.

Comparing brands may help you reduce your sodium. You might also look at the Rice Diet Solution, which is a low sodium weight loss diet. They have a community forum where they share low sodium recipes and brands of foods to try. I picked up a lot of tips from there. http://forums.ricediet.com/
