Home Sprouters, where do you get your seeds

  • I love growing sprouts at home, but I'd like to try some of the more exotic sprouts like onion and garlic. I usually buy broccoli sprout seeds or a salad sprout mix (because that's all I can find locally).

What kind of sprouts do you like to grow, and where do you get your seeds?

Has anyone found interesting sprout seeds or mixes at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods?

Do you buy online, from which websites?

I found this website, and it has tons of interesting sprout and sprout mix seeds, and also directions for growing the different types of sprouts.

Has anyone bought from them? Were you happy with your purchase.

What type of sprouter do you use?

I use a glass jar with a screened lid, that I prop into a bowl lined with a towel to absorb any drips.

Does anyone else use hemp or cotton bags for sprouting?
  • I have been looking at a jar and seeds at a local health food store..very interested in getting started myself!
  • I use an Easy Sprouter. I bought mine at a local health food store. I'm quite happy with it.

I like salad mixes, my favorite is one that has some radish in it.Very yummy. We went through a mung bean phase over the summer but I guess we're over that now. Alfalfa is our favorite and that's what I sprout the most.

Our health food store carries spouting seeds and even though the choices are limited and the prices are a little bit higher than online I always buy from them. I'm glad they're there and want to give them my business!
  • I have ordered sprouts from sprout people and I did like the sprouts. I also have an easy sprouter although I've also used hemp bags as well for things like chia. One of my local health food stores also sells seeds for sprouting.
  • I can get alfalfa sprouts, broccoli sprouts, and a salad mix (which is quite good), but I'd like to try some of the more exotic sprouts, which is why I was drawn to the sproutpeople site.
