New to the diet weight loss thing...

  • Hello everyone! My name is Amy and I am trying to loss weight as I'm sure everyone here is trying to do. I have never really been that concerned with my weight cause I've always carried it well but, when I was getting dressed Oct. 2010 and my size 20 work pants were tight that was it. I refuse to buy a bigger size. I went and saw my doctor and all she suggested was Adipex, exercise, and changing my diet.
I have never really been one to over eat, I'm just inactive. I'm 27 and have had 3 knee surgeries (due to genetic issues) and a lower lumbar fusion due to a roll over accident. I work 3rd shift as a Loss Prevention Officer, so basically for 8 hours a night I sit behind a desk and watch computer screens. No active involved there!
I have looked at this site several times and decided it was time to join up and get the support I really need and hope I'll get to stay on track.
  • Welcome Amy!

Make yourself at home. If there is anything we can help you find, just ask. We're here to help.
  • Thank You! I have been reading others intros and its nice to know I'm not alone out there!
  • Welcome and good luck !
  • Welcome..I too am new here as well as to weight loss. i never had a weight problem until i had my kids and now it seems like no matter what i do i either gain weight or i stay at my current weight but it seems like weight loss is lightyears away for me..good luck with ur goals
  • Thankfully there are a lot of 24 hr fitness centers now. Not that you need a gym to loss weight... but maybe you could find one that has a pool for you to exercise in. It would be easier on your knees. Just a suggestion.

Good luck on your goals! ^_^
  • A gym period would be nice, unfortunately the nearest gym to me is 35 miles away and is only open monday-friday during the day. Which is when I'm in bed normally (since I work night shift). In the summer I do the redneck thing and go swimming at the river and it does help with my knees a lot.
