Default Starting a New Year...

Hey all, so I go by Charms. It's a nickname from the summer camp I work at, but I find it works quite well! I'm named after the cereal Lucky Charms and one of my good friends tells me that it fits since I'm 'Magically Delicious.' Okay, well, she's just joking around, but still!

I am a 21 year old college junior who is embarking on a weight loss journey. I'm busy, but I'm not happy. I never really have been. And it's because I'm not happy with myself. So I'm going to go about eating healthier and trying to fit in some exercise to lose weight.

I'm a music major who wants to go to graduate school to get her M.Div and work as a youth pastor. So that's me in a nutshell.

Charmsey out.

Hey there, Charms!

You've definitely found the right place to find support! I know the board can be a wee bit overwhelming at first, so here are a few places you might want to check out.

First, take a look at the 100 lb club...it's a group of folks on their way to losing or who have lost 100 lbs or more.

Second, you might want to check out the 20-somethings...it's a very active group in their 20's. Finding people in your age group is nice, because you tend to have common experiences and questions (like, how do I manage when the girls are going out for drinks?), and it's a great group over there.

Finally, if you've settled on some sort of healthy plan, we probably have a forum for it! Calorie Counters, South Beach, Weight Watchers, Whole Foods, Vegetarian, Low Carb...there's a whole bunch out there to fit with whatever plan you plan to be working.

At college, one of my biggest regrets is not taking advantage of the fitness opportunities that were available to me. Does your college have a gym? Do they offer PE classes for credit? There are definitely ways to fit exercise into even the busiest of schedules, but college does make it easier, because you usually get access to some resources for free. So investigate that.

Most of all, jump on in to as many forums as you like, and keep posting. Can't wait to get to know you better!
