Default Christmas food -what'll you eat?

Well, a lot of us are trying to lose a stone (or at least a few pounds) up until Christmas. Some of us (those wearing halos) will probably try to do well over Christmas.

What are you all going to eat over Christmas. Are you all traditional? Are some veggie like me and aren't that bothered by what they eat? Will some find it hard because Mum/Mum in Law/othersw insist you will have ALL the trimmings.

Anyone really going to try and cut down this year?

Anyone think "Sod this, It's Christmas!"

christmas for us is just another day, so we will have the same as what we would have for a sunday lunch.
and before anyway starts shouting humbug. we don't celebrate as we have both had bad things happen to us at christmas and this is our way of carrying on.

Leigh-r I would not dream of it. Anyway not everyone celebrates Christmas for various reasons. My sister in Law loves it in our family as she never celebrated Christmas with her folks. I actually don't enjoy it much, too much of a build up on the day but I don;t like you have any bad views of it. It is nice to see my family though. I miss our old cats though, they used to love the wrapping paper and boxes.

This will be my neice's first "proper" Christmas where she will be able to participate. Her older brother is past that stage. He got over excited last year and threw a few paddies.

I look forsard to the daft games - especially pictionary. Mum's artwork (lack of) is always a source of amusement!

I'm definately a "sod it - it's Christmas person". Have already planned that from once the boys go to bed on Christmas eve, until the end of boxing day, I eat as I want to. I like to think I will still make some good choices, but the booze will no doubt have some effect on my decision making skills.

I am going to save some points towards the overeating I know I will do

As for new year, again the booze will take effect. But from about 10pm on the 31st, until the morning of the 2nd I will be trying my best to make good decisions, while eating far too much steak pie and all the trimmings.

But from the 2nd I am back on plan, I am not going back to my first weigh in and the VLL (sorry wrong thread - very lovely lady) telling me I weigh over 16 stone again.

This year I break the habit of putting on half a stone over the festive season

After starting this thread I have to admit I do not know what I will eat. It will be vegetarian. My brother will cook it. They are having Goose as per usual. Bro' loves using the goose fat to cook spuds in. Sorry not a nice thing to say on this board I know. No wonder he is not losing weight!

I can go without mince pies and pudding but I do love trifle!

I'm like Carol - definitely a 'sod it - it's christmas' kind of gal. However, my mum, dad, grandmother etc will all be watching like hawks to see how much I consume and I have no doubt that there will be the odd 'do you really need to eat that Melissa?' comments (same as every occasion). Sometimes I like to eat more just to wind everybody up...

Having said all that I think I've changed my eating habits and I'd like to think I will be making better decisions this year. Luckily I can take or leave alcohol its just the nuts, biscuits, chocs etc that may get in the way...

You are not alone Delaney! My Aunt is like that. She is on a restricted diet herself - little protein, a lot of raw fruit (she has rheumatism) but cannot leave others alone. She used to nag everyone else about eating butter, now that she eats it herself it is alright and anyone eating marg is wrong. She used to sit across from me watching my every move. However now there are little kids around she "has" to watch their every move and nag them if they play around with their food.

Happy Christmas one and all!

It is the savoury nibbles that are really my downfall and all the pickles and sauces. Oh well. Hopefully my brother will get some Quor stuff for me - I know it is hard for him to cook normal stuff and my stuff - luckily he has a big oven. I won't have roast potatoes, I will go for baked instead and try to eat a load of salad (yeah great) without too much dressing. Honestly, what a big palava for one day!

I will have a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, (I'm cooking the damn thing I'm eating it) This year I will try and have less on my plate so that I don't need scaffolding to hold it there. I have already given instructions that I don't want any chocolate buying for me.

Hate to be a boring fart, but I have reassessed the christmas eating and I will be being careful. I will not be sticking to points, but I will be taking the healthly option.

We probably won't be having the traditional turkey dinner as I am the only one who likes it. No decision has been made on what we will be eating, yet !!!!!!. But I will make a healthy special dinner for us all, something we all like will be a novelty. We never sit down to a meal these days without Sean going YUCK I'm not eating that and usually bursting into tears.

I have a dream of going to my first weigh in in January and having lots a pound, instead of gaining 7lbs as every other year. And only I can make it happen.
