Getupandgo, I really understand how hard it is in the beginning. It takes a few weeks (3 or 4) for your brain to change into a new routine. I've been at this since end of July and I still struggle with nighttime eating though....not every night....it depends on several factors (stress levels, sleep, etc.). I find that eating a bit more protein can help and using very high fiber foods. Salad is a great idea. I'd have some salad and then have some hot tea afterwords. I also think it's good to find a hobby....one that involves your hands like knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, etc. That will take your mind off. T.v. actually is the worst for this but I can't suggest not watching, since I tend to watch it quite a bit to relax in the evenings. You may even want to clean out your closet or a messy drawer or your purse,etc... to keep your mind busy. Either way, as long as you commit to doing this, you'll get through it. When you wake up in the morning, after not giving in to munchies, tell yourself that you did great and that you didn't die.

Sometimes, we feel like we're going to die if we don't have a certain something and that's just our mind playing a mean trick on us....one that's no good for our bodies.

Hang in there because as you do this right, it will get better.
