new vegan! and having a way easier time than when I tried being vegetarian.
After a recent eye opening movie, I have adopted veganism, and finding it for the most part suprisingly easy! looking forward to trying recipes. Anyone have one for cookies
I would also look at the book "Vegan Cookies invade your cookie jar". It is a vegan cookie cookbook. Also, there are other baking books like "The Joy of Vegan Baking".
That movie changed a lot of my thought processes on food also. I have a very difficult time eating fast food now. It didn't convert me to vegetarianism/veganism though. I just became a whole lot pickier about the foods I was buying and cut back on my eating out a great deal. The movie that opened my eyes and set me on a path to cutting back my animal product consumpiton is Change Your Food, Change Your Life. It is available on Netflix and well worth a look for anyone interested. I am an animal lover but had never truly thought of the nutritional benefits to veganism.
We must be twins! I'm about two months in to vegan and this time is easier than when I was doing vegetarian. I think the difference is I'm really experimenting with different things like seiten (great!) and some other cool recipes off of fat free vegan. She's great! My big challenge is vegan cupcakes. Sorry, they are still cupcakes! Drat.
I still make cupcakes too but I use whole wheat pastry flour and sub out half the oil for applesauce. That's how I justify making them occasionally, lol.
I also bake from a vegan book called Sweet Freedom by Ricki Heller (dietdessertndogs.com). She has a lot of recipes posted on her blog and everything I've baked has been delicious.
I'll have to look that book up. Did you hear about the 21 year old vegan chef who won the cupcake contest on Food Network? They were definitely not diet cupcakes, but man did they ever look amazing!
