Something isn't right

  • The numbers I'm getting when I check my BS CAN'T be accurate!I don't have ANY Symptom (s) of Hyperglycemia. The Evening of Saturday,February 6 per dippy Doctor's orders,I started taking 2,000 MG of Metformin Daily.Am using a new Meter, because my old Meter malfunctioned. When I got the new Meter, the first reading (using Strips I bought-ran out) was 90.I'm now using Test Strips that belonged to a Brother of a Friend. These Strips are for the same brand of Meters I use,but might not be Strips designed for my Meter.Since using the Strips given me,I'm getting the below readings:

    348,282,301,303,284,264,298,240,227,340,283,349,21 6,268,194 (February 9),265,209,261,271,218,238 and 238..

After receiving my first (now old Meter),my BS was 226.I have NEVER had BS's in the 300's until now.The highest was 256 early April '09,but it came down. This was the Evening after dippy Doctor was very harsh with me at an Appointment. My A1C's are 8.2,7.1,6.4 and 6.8..
  • Those readings don't mesh with the A1C's. Is the meter coded to the strips? Do you have testing solution?
  • LovebirdsFlying,
No,they don't mesh with my A1C's.Yes,the Meter is coded, but I don't have Test Control Solution.Until talking with a Rep when ordering my new Meter,I did not realize that TCS is to be discarded 3 Month's after opening (regardless expiration date).I had used mine since August 2008!
