I read about this diet this weekend in the times. its called the ADD diet, its pretty basic, you can eat what you like 1 day and can only have 500 calories the next day. It is only my 3rd day doing it and i'm struggling already. Not done calorie counting before and its is quite a challenge working out what i can and can't eat. Anyone else done or doing this?
Its on Times online, ADD stands for Alternate Day Diet. I'm ok, it gets easier and i don't seem to mind having only 500 calories cos i know i can have what i like the next day. I also am able to plan what i am doing around my diet so if i am going out for dinner i make sure i do it on a day that i am allowed to eat so i don't feel bad about eating a really nice meal or missing out on a nice meal cos i am on a diet. I even planned to get Christmas day on an eating day. I've been doing it about 2 weeks now and my mum thinks i've already lost weight, which is good.
Success would definitely be completely dependent on how much you ate on your off day. No, I haven't heard of it. I do know though that I can easily wipe out an entire week of low-cal. eating in just a day--****, an hour really.
Interesting wonder if you could have a few more cals say 700 and it still work I know the old w/w wendy plan was very similar but not as strict. Must work because the guinea lost 3lbs her first week
Good Luck Roobear
I think it doesn't sound very safe. Maybe you might lose weight for a little while, but the risk of gaining weight on this "diet" could be large. Imagine on your day that you can eat what you want that you ate over 3,000 calories, which is very easy because you are in the situation of needing to lose weight in the first place. Those "500" cal days could screw up your metabolism, too.
