New sunglasses! (OT)

  • I'm sorry, but I've been dying to post this somewhere . . .

I normally wear prescription glasses, but have traded them out for contacts while I'm swimming. I'm blind as a bat and would rather wear contacts (and keep my face out of the water) than stumble around in a blur or attempt to wear glasses in the pool.

Anyway . . . My prescription glasses have transition lenses and gosh, I forget how bright it gets outside without them! Not wanting to spend a ton on sunglasses at the moment, I just happened to find this pair at a dollar store! They'll tide me over until I afford a nicer, sturdier pair.

And on a side note, I never thought I'd be happy over the way I look with my hair up. My mom always used to tell me I was hiding behind my hair and even made me cut it off short because of it. But I'm not as self-conscious these days and it's a pretty good feeling. I also can't believe how much my face has slimmed down over time.
  • They look cute on you. Depending on how into the swimming you plan to get (and for how long), you might want to look into prescription swim goggles. I have a friend who is a competition swimmer and he has them. I don't know how much they cost, just that he called them an investment, so apparently not cheap. He loves it though and says he will never go without them again.
  • wow, a dollar store?? they look great! good for you.

I get shaded lenses that clip onto my glasses, otherwise I have to get perscription sunglasses and I'm too cheap to do that (my glasses cost $300). I used contacts many moons ago, and they're probably much better now, but I ended up preferring glasses.
  • super super cute!!!!
  • I'm afraid of contacts, I know it sounds silly but I just can't imagine putting anything near my eye. It's bad enough putting eyeliner on. I have prescription "sunglasses" which are really just really dark tinted lenses. I got them on one of those deals where you get 2 pairs of glasses a couple years ago... I probably should get some new ones actually. My regular glasses are getting so scratched and beat up. I've had them for about 5 and a half years now... hard to believe it's been that long!
