I'm putting together my diet plan for the next 2 months, and I'm wondering what kinds of seafood are great for dieting. Is there such a thing as too much protein?
I love, love, love scallops. The big sea scallops, not the little bay scallops. They ARE pricey, but they have very few calories (I'm pretty sure under 100 for 4 scallops) and no, or almost no fat, and a TON of protein. Plus, they are delicious and easy to make, just sear on a high high heat in some olive oil for under 2 minutes a side, serve with a grain and veggies, yum!
Also, shrimp is good, easy, high in protein and low in calories.
It's about balance. If you are eating all protein and cutting back on say fiber rich foods or missing out on important nutrients then yes, you might be eating too much of that one thing. That said, seafood tends to be low in calories and pretty good eats. I think it's an excellent addition to a healthy way of eating, but it shouldn't be the *only* thing you eat.
