Urine/Breath

  • Hey everyone!
Yesterday was my first day on Atkins. I already feel a difference. Yesterday my husband asked me if I was ready for him to grill up some dinner... I told him no. I just didn't have an appetite and I wasn't hungry. Yesterday went well... stayed under 20 carbs with foods only allowed on induction by Dr. Atkins himself. I thought it took ay least 48 hours to go into Ketosis... But my breath is already different. I woke up and I thought it was just odd tasting morning breath. I brushed my teeth and it's still there. Then this morning when I woke up & went to the bathroom, my urine had a different smell.. almost sweet. I thought maybe it was just an odd/strong morning urine. I've since urinated and it's still the sweet smell.
Also, I am a scale addict. Even when I am not eating healthy, I am on the scale. I have probably weighed myself every day for the past few years. So this morning I got on the scale, and I was 205.4. Yesterday, I was 209. How is that possible? My scale is very accurate and it's digital. I know it isn't fat and probably all water, but isn't that a lot of water weight to lose in one day?!?!?!
  • Don't look a gift horse in the mouth....if your scale says you've gone from 209 to 205.4....be glad and rejoice Of course its water...but...its gone, thats the important thing!
As for the ketosis thing...personally, I think ketosis is as individual as weight loss....different pace for everyone. I lost over 100 lbs., yet everytime I tried one of those ketostix....according to them, I was never in ketosis Carry on, you're doing great!!!

WTG! I always heard great things about ATKINS but unfortunately, I am born a vegetarian and cannot eat meat due to religious as well as personal reasons, but good luck with your goals!
  • Thanks so much for the support Kim & Niru!
  • Good job!

I havent noticed the ketone breath but I do have the ketostix that turn pink most of the time for me. Plus when I work out hard I smell like amonia (that's also ketone release).

I agree w Kim, celebrate the quick drop in the scale!
