Default when did my body get so neeeeeedy?

so until i started dieting i had TERRIBLE eating habits. i often didnt eat anything til 5 or 6 pm and then just pigged out all night.

well today, due to crazy circumstances, i didnt end up eating anything til like 4 pm when i ate a fiber bar. then i ran to the store (like i said, crazy day). im not kidding, i felt like i was going to PASS OUT the whole time i was there and was shaky until i got home and ate a meal.

what happened? youd think that by eating less my body would be even more fine without eating all day, but i felt terrible! why does this happen?

Not all. Your body isn't used to eating only one meal, and it's metabolism is likely higher. It's really not normal to not eat all day , of course you were shaky!! That must have felt terrible! You should stash more fibre bars and apples into your purse for those crazy days.

Gotta tell ya, that it gets WORSE as you lose weight. Your body has fewer and fewer stored calories. I have to keep snacks in my drawer at work, my car, my purse - EVERYWHERE! Now that my body is used to eating every 2-3 hours, it absolutely rebels when I don't feed it on schedule. It is worse than a newborn

The shaky feelings could also be due to peaks and lows in your blood sugar. When I discussed my weight loss plan with my doctor, he told me that I would need to eat 4 to 6 times per day but in small amounts. I thought he was wrong but sure enough, my body tells me when to eat now and its several times a day. Good idea above about keeping snacks on hand.

oh, I forgot to add that I used to eat that way too. I would go all day just drinking coffee and eat for hours when I got home from work.

Hey, hon! Your body isn't neeeeeedy, it's normal! The body is never "fine" with not eating all day. Don't let any kind of crazy day make you think it's OK to skip meals until evening.

Create some kind of food strategy by which you always have SOMEthing you can go to for breakfast, lunch, snacks throughout the day. Have that fiber one bar in the morning, if nothing else.

Thank you for posting this! When I am an hour or two post-regular feeding time, I get dizzy and I didn't know why. I chalked it up to a weird day because I, too, used to go for 6 hours without eating in between meals. So THAT'S why!

Isn't it amazing how the human body adapts to whatever you do to it? If you feed it too much it adapts by storing food. If you feed it only once a day it will adapt to expect that.

It just goes to show you that taking care of your body requires only to develop healthy habits. Being healthy doesn't mean that you don't need food, it means that you absolutely need it in the right amounts, at the right time, and in the right form of nutrition.
