so today i went to the mall with my husband. giving into temptation i ordered a giant, super fat burrito at qdoba. they took so long making it that they threw a brownie in for free (gee, thanks!). first of all, i have brownie issues. if theyre even in my house i cant sleep until i eat them all. i was planning on eating the burrito 1/2 for lunch and 1/2 for dinner since theyre about 1200 calories, and "cheating" today.
this is typically a situation in which i wouldve just eaten the whole burrito and brownie and chalked it up to, "well, i blew it today". prolly would've eaten more tonight because once i decide i messed up for the day, i usually just say "screw it".
i ate 1/2 my burrito and then one bite of brownie. then my head said, "hey, today isnt blown yet, this was only 600 calories, thats a lot, but not BLOWN". i threw the brownie in the trash and gave the other 1/2 of my food to my husband. the reason im sharing this is because it shows the "all or nothing" mentality. just because you have a slip, doesnt mean that your whole day is ruined. ive planned out the rest of my meals for today and im only going to end up at 1400 calories. its never too late to turn your day around!!
Good job! One of my early tasks was eliminating that particular phrase from my vocabulary. Every one of those choices is a step in the right direction!
awww thanks for all the kind words! just fyi, i was intending this to be more of a "never just decide its blown" post than a "look how great i am post", lol, but ill take all the praise!!
ugh i know, brownies are the best, AND the worst!!
I love brownies, and I absolutely HATE fudge. Weird, I know. Anyway, I totally admire you now!! I always KNOW that I need to stop at a particular point, but I never do. I usually just scarf my food and then get back on plan the next day. Although this past weekend, I did manage to stop myself finishing my pizza slice because I felt full and I DID IT! I was so elated from my self-control that day so I can totally relate to your feeling of accomplishment. It's also nice to have a "garbage bowl" husband. I throw extra food my hubby's way too. Hehehehe.
Here's a carrot, just cause he makes me laugh (and it's a cheer for you):
