food-loving girl looking for support!

  • Hi everyone! I'm a 20-something, new to 3fc, and am looking forward to getting to know all of you!

I'm getting close to the end of my degree in public health with a minor in nutrition, and want to be at a "healthy" weight for my graduation (about 10 months to go!). I took off about 30 lbs more than 5 years ago and kept them off, and have fairly healthy habits (eating and exercising), but carbohydrate-y foods just seduce me every time. I know how to do it... I know what healthy eating looks like and love healthy food... but knowing it isn't the same as doing it, sadly!

Thanks for the inspiration you've given me so far!

  • Welcome and good luck !

  • Hey!
I too love food and have taken nutrition classes! So you're not alone!
I wish you luck and success and hopefully you'll find as much support here as I did!
There's a section in the forum for recipes so maybe you could start there! And if you're counting calories, you can try a site like http://www.thedailyplate.com/ to help you track everything.
    Good luck!
  • OOOh, I love carbs...they get me every time. Pasta, bagels, breads. YUMMM...if you find a secret to ditching them please let me know!
  • Hi Fooodie! I am 20 something year old, and I also have a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and I work in Public Health! And i also weigh 179 currently, hoping to get down to about 155ish. Sounds like we have alot in common!
  • Welcome to 3FC!

  • hey cherry! thats awesome! Its crazy how we all go to school everyday and learn about nutrition, but struggle to actually practice what we preach in our own lives. I am 24 and graduated college 2 years ago, got married 1 year ago, and gained 25 lbs in the past 2 years! I work for Women Infants and Children as a Nutritionist. What kind of job are you hoping to pursue with your degree?
