As a commitment to eating better, and as a new fun hobby, I have a garden! Here's my little "square foot box garden" where I'm growing lettuce in staggered rotation so it lasts all summer, and then the main one - i have tomatoes along the side of the fence. I'm growing green onions, radishes, lettuce, peppers and peas! i'm so excited it's actually GROWING!!!

Wow, that is so cool! And beautiful! How hard is it to learn to garden? I really really want to garden, but I have no clue what to do. I wanted to plant just a few things this season... Is it as easy as following the directions on the seed package?

thinpossible, it's SUPER easy!!! ok, it's some work, but it's not hard put it that way!! I'd definitely start with the boxes it's way easier, all i did was put a pack of mixed salad greens seeds and it did the rest! My hubby has a bit of italian in him so he's taken to the tomato plants LOL We just read some books and got some tips from a few neighbours and it's going great! I'm out every day searching for weeds lol My mom gave us the great idea of sprinkling hair from my hair brush around the perimeter - sounds kinda weird but it keeps the furry critters away like nothing else!

I'm so jealous. We had tomatoes last year and I nearly died they were so good.

We made boxes this year--but ran out of money when it came time to buy some dirt. Unfortunately, it'll ahave to be next year: our growing season is too short for me to start anything but lettuce now.

We've also had a severe drought this spring (5mm of rain since April) so I guess we can be glad we weren't spending the money to water it, too. Still, I'm bummed.

Next year.

Every year we grow tomatoes and different peppers. There's nothing like getting it from your own garden.

That's phenomenal work, gardens are so great and it can really improve salad consumption when there is the pride of doing it yourself! Hubby and I are trying to plant one but we have to level and landscape the yard first, which requires a lot of time and money we don't have free this year (fill dirt is expensive!). Delicious produce is definitely something to look forward to, though

That's awesome. I've been toying with the idea of planting some stuff myself eventually. Thought I'd try a CSA for the summer first and see what I can get there before plunging in.

I have planted two each of blueberry and raspberry bushes though and am looking forward to those coming up.

Gorgeous radishes! Yeah I just pulled the rest of my beets and pickled them but this year in my (suburban) garden I have onions, corn, blackberries, blue berries, beets, green peas, sugar snap peas, grapes and zuchini. Thinking about putting in a tomato plant now that I've pulled the beets. Or possibly a small watermelon vine.

I'm growing some veggies in patio boxes. I have some tomatoes and bell peppers growing. I have some peppers that are an inch big right now. ^_^
