Time-release Metformin

  • My doctor just switched me to time-release Metformin because I'm still having "issues" with the three-pill-a-day plan. I'm happy to say that my, er, movements have not been loose! But the one pill I take is only 500 mg, and I was taking three 500 mg pills. Does that seem odd? Anybody made this switch?
  • Ooooh! I should talk to my doc when I see him later this week. I was having issues with 500mg twice a day, so my doc gave me 1000mg pills instead! I wake up with an upset stomach almost every morning with the, er, same issues you mentioned.
  • I just got switched to Glumetza extended release Metformin. I love it. Im on 500mg a day and my stomach was only upset for a few days. I had a horrible time with regular metformin it made me cramp really bad... it was a nightmare. I hope the new pill works for you as well as it has for me
    Best of Luck!!!
  • Hope it works for you, too. I'm pretty happy so far. I guess the proof will come when I find out if it is actually doing the job with my insulin levels. So nice to not have to take a pill three times a day, too.
