I'm New

  • So after seeing a totally unflattering picture of me and feeling bad for a while I realize I NEED a change. I really do. I am only 22 and I am so tired of being overweight. People tell me I have a pretty face and I'm a good person blah blah blah but they only see what they want to see it seems and I am just tired of being overweight. I want to change but I don't know how.

    I still live at home and I'm the only girl so I don't relate to my dad and brother real well weight wise. My dad is overweight so there isn't much help there. I just need to do this for myself and my health and well... I want to wear normal clothes. I want to wear jeans and look cute in them, I want to wear dresses. My problem is I get distracted or idk... side tracked? I just don't know how to lose weight on my own and I have no one else.

    I do think I am going to start buying my own things. We're Cuban so my dad makes a lot of fried food and its hard to avoid. I like veggies and fruit but I get bored with the same thing. I'm not that good of a cook but I am willing to learn so I Want to stick to this.

    I know weight loss takes a while and right now I want to lose at least 10 pounds by my 23rd birthday which is in June maybe more but I don't want to set myself up for disapointment you know? I plan on giving up soda (Except diet once in a blue moon) and jucies. Sticking to water. It just gets hard when there is always soda there.

    Anyways, I hope to get to know yall. I am going to look around now

  • Hi! I totally understand what you're saying. I'm 20 and I currently live with my parents while waiting for my house sale to close and they are quite big fans of anything fattening. It's really hard and I remeber at first not thinking I could stick to making myself a salad every night when there is ready made "lard cakes" right there for me to eat eat eat! Yuck. I began looking for recipes online and trying things that I knew were way better and substituting. Eventually, my entire overweight family actually started to pick up on the stuff I was making and as my brother (Who is a beanpole, actually) was like "This is health nut food? It's not even gross." (He's so sweet...)

    It's hard but if you stick around 3FC we'll give you all the support and motivation that you need and then some. Try signing up for the challenges in the Chicks Up For a Challenge forum.

    As far as the challenges are concerned ... there is one for getting ready for summer ... just like you were thinking.
