wieght loss?

  • i have a what is a silly question
is there weight loss when you drop a pant size?
to me it doesn't seem llike there is but maybe my scale is broken.
when i get on the scale i seem to be in the same place.
i started exercising 1hour a day at least.
so could the weight be muscle mass?
sorry for the blonde moment just wondering if anyone else went thru this too
  • From what I've read in other posts, the difference between sizes really varies between body types. For me, it's about 15# between sizes; for others it is at 10# and others maybe even more.
  • number of pounds between sizes shrink as you get smaller....
  • are you weighing @ the same time every day? (I actually prefer weighing once or twice a week, 1st thing in the a.m.)
Also be sure to place your scale in same spot every time you weigh. My digital scale shows a 5-8 lb fluctuation, depending where I put it in the bathroom!
If your scale's unreliable, find a new one... I hear weight watchers has a good one.
If you're losing a pant size even though the scale doesn't jive, it may be the exercise... my butt started shrinking right away when I started the treadmill. You are making excellent progress, enjoy and keep kickin' butt!!

It's not silly No, there's not necessarily "weight" loss if you drop a pants size. You may have decreased your fat & increased your muscle which might show zero change on the scale. 5 lbs of muscle is smaller and takes up less space than 5 lbs of fat so you could see a decrease in inches but no scale change.

I'm going through this right now. Actually, this is a great example (thanks jen!) http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/mini...ress-pics.html

Keep it up, the scale will eventually catch up, but even if it doesn't, don't worry. You're getting smaller! And healthier! That's a great accomplishment. Even if the scale is being a total B*($&

Edited to add: oops! I just realized this post is 4 months old so even if the OP doesn't get something from it, I hope someone does!
  • wow thank you for all these comments they are helping me stay with this
  • Hon, it really really depends where you start. I was squeezed into a size 18-20 and in major denial at 244lbs (cause I was REALLY a 22/24 and just refused to buy a larger size, so I only had one pair of stretchy pants when I started). It took me 44lbs to drop a pant size. Since then, I'm dropping like crazy cause I'm smaller. And 10 lbs on a smaller person has more effect clothing-wise than 10 lbs on a larger person (think -- if you go from 150 to 140 you'll drop a pants size for sure: if you are 244 and go to 234 you don't see much of a difference)

    Just stick with it...
