Default How many calories should I save?

My nephew asked me to come to a spaghetti feed fund raiser for the high school band tonight before his concert and I said yes. Now I need to know how many calories I should a lot for such a thing. I've never been to a spag feed. I put in all my food for the day (breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack) and I have about 700 left if I go all the way to 1500. I like to be between 1400-1600. Should I take a way a snack so I have more or does that sound ok? I know it's probably hard knowing when you don't know the brands of food and what they are serving but a ball park idea is what I'm looking for.

I would eat lots of salad before and then just take normal portions when you go tonight. 1/2 cup pasta and 1/2 cup sauce. If it is made with red meat, I would allot 400 calories for one normal portion.

If salad will be available and you plan to eat that there, I would take my own dressing. Have fun!

I agree with TBG--you can have healthy snacks beforehand, donate to the band and not feel obligated to eat up the pot. 400 is a good ballpark estimate for a regular plate, but you can eat only half of that if you're not comfortable eating unknowns. You'll be socializing and no one will notice how much you take anyway.

I'll just stick with the 700 I have left and feel safe eating a small portion.
