How Many Calories For a Meal

  • I log my food, and I'm learning that if I'm smart about my choices, I can feel really full with about 300 calories. If I do this 3 times a day it's a perfect 1200. Of course, life isn't perfect . But I'm getting better at it.

How many calories do you find yourself eating for a typical meal? Do you divide evenly between breakfast - lunch -dinner, or several small meals, or one big meal? Or mix it up depending on the day? Thanks.

  • I don't divide evenly. Breakfast I usually do 200-300 calories. Lunch is usually 300-400 calories, dinner is usually 400-500 calories, and then I'll have a 200-300 calorie snack. But for me my goal is at least 1500 calories a day and no more than 1800 calories a day. When I was doing 1200-1500 calories a day I wouldn't lose a THING.
  • I usually have the fewest calories for breakfast, a medium - high lunch and a high - medium dinner. I usually get a morning snack in but not usually an afternoon one. I usually have 1/2 pt semi-skimmed or soya milk per day, and on the days when it's dairy, I save that to the end of the day and have a milky coffee as an evening treat.
  • I mix it up depending on the day. I usually get about 300-500 per meal and 100-200 for a snack. I usually keep the meals pretty even, just kindof ends up like that lol.
  • Ideally I have a highish breakfast and late lunch and a small dinner with a few snacks, but this rarely happens because I also have to eat pretty much every meal with my currently working at home contractor husband. Also today I didn't feel like cooking breakfast so I had cereal which is a small breakfast and usually I end up having left over calories at the end of the day when I do that.

Actually 300 times 3 is 900 calories. Are you also having a 300 calorie healthy snack? (I HOPE!)

    On weekdays I do 1200 calories a day and have 300-B, 400-L, and 500-D. On weekends I do 1500 and then it's 400-B, 500-L, & 600-D.
  • Breakfast, 200. Usually around 500 for lunch/dinner, though lunch is my biggest meal of the day.
  • At 1500 calories, this is what I aim for when I'm trying to lose:

    Breakfast 300 calories
    Snack 150 calories
    Lunch 300 calories
    Snack 150 calories
    Dinner 600 calories
  • I usually have 400 for lunch and 500 for supper staying to 1300 - 1400 a day.
  • I break my calories down into 3 blocks. For breakfast and snack #1 (mid-morning), I can use 500 calories or so (usually 350/150), for lunch and snack #2 (late afternoon) it's the same and 350 or so for dinner and 100 for a light evening snack/dessert (e.g., dark chocolate, coconut fruit bar, slim-a-bear bar, etc.). Total = 1450.
