Here I go again.

  • I really need to get back on calorie counting. I started back in Feb of 08, lost 30 pounds in less then 4 months.... now I've gained back 7 of those pounds I'm back and I need someone to keep me motivated lol Who wants to be my friend?
  • I would love to be your friend!!! Myself i am having a hard time just getting started!! would love to hear your thoughts on calorie counting...i heard on the news a week ago that they were doing another!! study and said that the best way to lose weight is watch your calories!! i guess at the end of the day it is the basic formula of calories in and calories burned right?? Look forward to hearing from you
  • Thank you!!! It was so hard for me to get started before but once I made up my mind it was ON lol Like I said, I lost 30 pounds in about 3.5 months. I don't know if I can say this here but I use sparkpeople.com which helped me A LOT with tracking my food intake, if you go there and set up an account you can put all of your info in and I could as you as a friend there.
  • Hey, Dawn -- I'm so glad to see you back again! Congrats on the 30 lbs! That is terrific progress! I'm in a similar situation.

I lost 40 lbs last year but gained back several pounds from mid-Dec through mid-Jan. Then I spent a month trying to lose weight without counting calories (you'd think I'd know myself better by now). After realizing the scale hadn't budged (d'oh!) I had a few more weeks of false starts and now finally, I am back on track. I had my first on-program week last week and so far so good this week.

I think I may simply have to accept that weight gain in Dec-Jan is going to happen. I still feel good about last year, and I am certainly better off now than I was a year ago. I hope you feel good about your progress last year too!

Anyway, I'm glad you've made it back here. Getting back on 3FC has been helpful for me. Keep posting!
  • Thanks so much! I also had some false starts and I'm really wanting to stay on this time, though I am ready to eat my arm off right now lol I really got off track this last month or so with moving, stress and some other things that got tossed into the equation. I was eating bad and yesterday I felt so sluggish, I decided today was today (which happens to be my daughters b-day) ugh! lol I can do it though and I'm going to stick to it.
  • I'm in about the same place. I lost 30 lbs last fall , maintained through christmas, and have now added 5-7lbs back on. Now that the weather is warmer, and clothes are more revealing, i can see just how much i've let it go. I've been continuing to eat the way i was (crappy)for a few days and tracking my calories and i have been eating like over 2000 cals/day which is too high for me. I want to get it back down to less than 1600/day and start working out regularly again. (i've done a fairly good job at this since last week.)

I went and bought myself a new workout outfit, that included a tank top and shorts and a new hot pink sports bra. I also got both of Jillian Michaels new dvds. Plus the guilt was eating away at me that i hadn't used our 900$ elliptical since december. I swore i wouldn't do that Seems to be working.

Usually when i have to restart my weight loss i find if i start with just focusing on the working out part, the eating healthy is much easier. i still have to count calories. I always seem to eat more than i remember , i use calorie count , but have used sparkpeople in the past.
  • Well at least you are getting back on track before you gain it all back.
  • DM welcome back .. this forum is awesome and so much great advice and great motivation...
