What is going on with my body????

  • Ugh! So a month ago I went from 1200 to 1400 calories and the weight came right off! I went down almost 10 lbs, but this week I hit a wall. I decided to go up to 1600 calories because my BMR is 1600 and my workouts burn approx 800-1000 calories (Heart rate monitor). I GAINED 3 lbs in 1 week?!?! I definitely didn't go over calories, I am really OCD about it. I just want the weight off by summer, I am doing everything mentally right but I can't get my body in line and taking off the weight. Please help!
  • Calm, calm, calm.... First of all, did you weigh at a different time? Did you try again to see if it was off? Your position on a scale can sometimes change readings, and obviously your weight fluctuates during the day. You might try going to 1500, or even 1400 again. Try what works. I think 1400 was your magic number. I just wish I could find mine. xD
  • I usually gain anywhere from 1-3 pounds throughout the day. I always weigh myself in the morning to avoid the blues. That way you're actually weighing your body, not your body plus everything you ate all day
  • I had to weigh in yesterday, but forgot till after I had my morning latte. I filled my coffee cup with water and weighed it to see how much weight to deduct from that latte, and it weighed a little over a lb. If you haven't been eating foods that keep you regular, or have been eating something causing you to retain fluids, it can be very easy to see a weight gain. I don't weigh every week, because I don't want to see normal fluctuations and be discouraged. I weigh every two weeks to make sure I always see some kind of loss. I think one week is too short a time to freak out about. But I sure do understand the OCD part, and why you are freaking out. I wait at least two weeks and if I haven't seen any loss in that time (or I see a gain), then I know I'm probably going to have to change something.
  • I weigh in everyday and I know that I gain 2 lbs of water weight in a day. The 3 lbs have been on and nothing has changed but the calories and doing the math.... that doesnt add up either.
  • lol bodies dont always do things the way that should add up have you tried drinking lots of water to see if it is just water being retained? I gained a heap last week from exercising lots, i didnt think i drank an excessive amount and i didnt even reach maintenance levels of calories. This week ive dropped it and more. I guess if you really want it to add up you have to measure what is going in AND what is coming out
