Default Another introduction

I've been looking around this site for a while and finally decided to join in! I have been on the South Beach Diet before several years ago and lost 40 lbs, but since have gained all that back and quite a bit more. I have reached my all time high weight of 197. Two months ago I lost 8 lbs. by trying to eat healthier but not being on a specific diet, but this past month I have not lost even 1 lb. That's why I've decided to go back on the South Beach Diet tomorrow. I'm also hoping posting on this site will help by making me feel more accountable and getting some support from other dieters. I already know one of my biggest challenges will be trying to excersize.....I hate it so much! So, I look forward to hearing from everyone and wish me luck tomorrow!

Memphisbelle! I'm glad you decided to join us and am looking forward to getting to know you.
I hope you have your kitchen stocked with Phase 1 foods and your menus planned for the week. That's the key to success on this plan - being prepared. Good luck!

Memphisbelle,
Just do it girl!!!!!! Make yourself get up and exercise. It was a plan between me and my sister-in-law to start walking today. ( I haven't walked in 10 years) and as the time approached this afternoon I found myself making every excuse in the world. I have no problem sticking to my WW but the exercise is something I hate! BUT! I got up and went and feel like a million bucks! I only walked 30 minutes but it was awesome. My sil and I walked around and around a park very near to where she lives. My 5 year old nephew played in the park as we walked. There was one little stretch where we couldn't see him very well on one of the three sides so we power walked and stepped it up then would slow back down. I am proud of my 30 minutes and have a date with her to do it again tomorrow.
Just make yourself get up and do it and you'll be proud. Guaranteed.
Blessings and good luck girlie!
Carolyn

Okay, I'm going to sing "Queen of Memphis" for the rest of the day! Hi Memphis! Exercise is easy if you find something you love. I happen to know Memphis has a great Jazzercise class.

Memphisbelle!

I hated to exercise too, but knew I needed to try it. Talking with the chicks in the Exercise forum really helped motivate me when I first started SBD. You might want to check that out.

Have you tried the Walk Away The Pounds (WATP) videos? They are highly acclaimed, especially by 3FCers who are just starting out on an exercise program. You might want to try that. If you like dancing, you might want to look at a dance-oriented exercise class, from Nia (which is lower impact and can be lower energy, also has a yoga-like feel to it), to Jazzercise (which is higher energy and incorporates weights and ab exercises, but you exercise to popular songs and have fun routines to learn), to Zumba (which is high energy and based on Latin dance steps). Taking a class with a friend is a great motivator, as is making plans to workout together at a gym or go for walks together. When you don't want to let someone down, it makes you more likely to go. You might also want to try water aerobics--you don't feel like you're working hard, but you get a great workout!

Welcome to the beach.... I wish I could give you some exercise advice, but I hate to do it and for the most part I don't... unless forced....

Well, my first day back on the diet yesterday went pretty good considering I didn't get to the grocery store the night before. I didn't cheat I had eggs for breakfast, turkey meatballs and brocolli for lunch, chicken and brussel sprouts for dinner and pistachios for a snack. Now, I'm all stocked up on SB supplies so it will be easier.
Thanks for all the tips and ideas. I'm going to try to look into some more fun excersize ideas to try like you guys suggested. I did try the walk away the pounds video before but I only have it on VHS and don't have a VCR anymore. I need to upgrade to DVD LOL! Untill I find something better I am gonig to walk on the treadmill for at least 15 min today as a start.
BTW does anyone know if picante sauce is allowed on phase 1?

Do you have a TV near your treadmill. I find that if I am watching a show while walking, it seems to go by faster.

Check the ingredients for added sugar, HFCS or any suspicious ingredients like corn starch thickeners or stuff that ends -ose.

Picante sauce is fine, as long as it has less than 3 grams of sugar. Enjoy!

Welcome! I'm new here too but have never done SB before.

I hear ya on the exercise thing. I do have a tv in my basement where the treadmill and the Total Gym are and that helps once I'm on the machines but it's getting my butt down there to do it that's the problem.
