Anyone here used a nutrionist? Helped or not?

  • Yesterday I went to my doctor and even though I told her I have lost weight slowly but surely- she is sending me to a nutritionist- I was wondering if anyone else had gone to one and what the experience was like and if it did help?

I went to one in college and I totally felt she was patronizing me and after that first consultation I never went back. I felt like she was talking to me like I was 4 and when I honestly answered her questions I felt like she thought I was lying.

Anyways- I think on my own I've made a lot of changes- drinking more water- eating a TON more veggies and fruits- making better choices- eliminating pretty much all the "bad" foods from my home (my hubby won't give up his cheese puffs lol), going to the gym 3x a week, and so on. Cooking healthier meals pretty much every night, and so on!

I'm not sure if I see what a nutritionist will add to that- so I want to know how other people's experiences were- thanks!
  • I went to a nutrtionist for 4 months until my insurance changed.() I was on a PSMF (protein sparing modified fast) and lost 45 lbs in 4 months. I had to go to a nutrtionist to get my diabetes under control. Anyhow it worked and I am now off of diabetes meds but I am still 25 lbs from goal. I think a nutritionist is worth it if your insurance pays..........otherwise I doubt if I would use one. JMHO
