Default How long did it take you to lose 20#'s

I know everyone loses weight differently, but I was just wanting to see an average of how long it took you to lose 20#'s following the SB diet (following the book) Thanks

Before I got pregnant I lost 18 lbs in about 6 weeks. Although I had a lot more to lose than 23 lbs.

to avoid sounding cliche, I won't repeat that everyone loses weight differently.

What you need to understand is that people with a lot more to lose lose weight a lot faster. For instance, if someone has 100# to lose they are going to lose 20# a lot faster than someone with just 23# to lose.

As a standard, you can expect about 10% of the total weight you have to lose to come off during Phase 1. For you, that is just 2.3 lbs.

Expecting too much out of this, or any diet for that matter is one of the major reasons why people quit. Remember that we didn't put on this excess weight overnight and it won't come off overnight either. Healthy weight loss is slow weight loss.

Thanks for all your answers. I know it's not a quick thing! I do plan on eating SB for good because I feel so good eating this way and it's a very healthy lifestyle. I do want to lose more than 30 #'s - that is my first goal and then I would like to lose 15 more after that.

There's so many things that will determine how fast you lose! Are you sticking religiously to the diet or allowing a few "sins" in there? Are you exercising and if so how much and what kind? Do you have underlying issues going on such as PCOS (like I do)....... There's just so many factor's, even twins would lose differently!

I know some folks dropped a hundred pounds in just a few months like Cyndi, but those are the exception to the rule... most people lose slowly. I've lost 27 pounds, but it's taken me a couple years! Slow, yes. Worth it? You bet! especially the way I ate over th e holidays! And to think I didn't gain, but maintained! When I saw I maintained I was well pleased!

THE THING THAT WILL WORK FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL IS WHAT THEY CAN ACTUALLY LIVE WITH AND DO! Thinking I'm going to walk the dogs doesn't walk the dogs, getting off my fat butt and walking them walks them! Same thing with diet, thinking I'm eating healthy doesn't mean I am!

Just for the record I lost about 8 lbs/month over 9.5 months, so within the 1-2 lbs/week that is healthy.

I was also up to 1000 + minutes exercising each month by the 4th month and seriously never ate off plan at all until the 7th month and only once then. I guess I'm a little sensitive about this.

It took me 4 1/2 mos to lose 20 lbs, but that's all I had to lose.

Probably a bit heavier on calories than I should've (those darned cashews), but I was running 15-20 miles/week as well.

Very satisfied with the time frame.

I started in May of last year, and lost 12 pounds on phase 1. after that, it was about 1 1/2 pounds a week, so probably around 3 months total to loose 20 pounds. my total loss is 40 pounds in 8 months, in spite of lots of holiday slip ups. I still have another 22 pounds to reach my goal.

I started a year ago & I think it took me about three months or so to lose 20#. I've lost another 5-7# in the last 6 months while trying to maintain, so I'm under my original goal. I've never had a food regimen that I could do that with before.

13 pounds in about 6 weeks (with a few off days and no hard core exercise) and I want to lose another 30 total.

Cyndi! I sorry! Yes, I know you worked hard! I just so proud of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are my inspiration to keep going!

As you know exercising for me doesn't work right now. Yesterday when I had to shovel the driveway, I'm still in even more excruciating pain than before! It killed me! My appointment is the sixth, hopefully we can get some answers!
