Default Losing weight again - for the last time!

I'm also new to 3chicks. I'm starting at 225 and am 30 years old from Mich. I've been successful losing weight in the past but have always regained it and then some. The last time I lost weight, I went from my lowest weight (130) of my adult life to my highest now (225). I'm hoping this is the last time I need to lose weight like this and want support to lose; And then, more importantly, to maintain that healthier lifestyle and weight. Any support and motivation would be appreciated. I'd also love to hear about individual contests you might be having to help motivate me.

Hi there!

3FC's forum is filled with supportive people. We all want eachother to, not only reach our weight goals, but to be healthier for the rest of our lives. To keep eachother going through hard times, and to feel inspired by others who are doing well.

It is possible to lose weight & keep it off. There's even a maintainers area specifically for that purpose.

So post wherever you're comfortable. Share your journey with us

Best of success!

Thanks so much, Kat and Γæŕîë. It looks like you've both been really successful and I hope to join in on your success soon and be the healthiest me for the rest of my life.

Default Thanks so much - I'm excited for the support

Thanks Anmitche, Midwife and Redneck Charger. I love this place already - everyone is so nice and supportive.

Anmitche - I am definitely looking for a buddy. That would be great. I'm not sure how to do private messages yet though ha ha. I'm still figuring out how this works. Have you been on 3FC very long? Anyway, I could definitely use the motivation and help with accountability. How did you start losing weight and do you set mini goals? I'd love to hear more and share what works and what doesn't. Do you follow a specific plan or are you figuring it out as you go?

I've lost weight before, so I'm pretty sure I know what will work for me (although I'd love to hear new tips and ideas) but it's a matter of doing it - and maintaining it. I always fall into this trap of "Whew, I made my goal weight - back to normal eating now. I can slack off a bit." and that's what caused me to gain all that weight back plus 30 lbs. Yikes!!!! Last time I didn't have this support though so I know that will make the difference.

I've lost and regained twice because I went back to my old habits. This time I have lost it and it is staying off due to my new behaviors. Meg is one of my heroes here at 3FC and she wrote that her life now looks a lot like her life did when she was losing. That was such a moment for me! You mean, if I ate the way that made me fat before, it will make me fat again??? Who'd have thunk it? You are so so right that old habits create old bodies, new habits maintain new bodies. Think about maintenance from Day 1 and keep it in the forefront as you develop food and exercise habits you can sustain. That doesn't mean you need to have your ultimate plan right away.....lots of us tweak and change....but play around and find out what kinds of foods keep you satisfied and full and healthy and that you love!

Default Losing weight for good

Hi Midwife,

That's great that you found a way to maintain it. I think that is something I need to really accept this time - your thoughts about it definitely help. Iike the "you mean if I ate the way that made me fat, I'd be fat again?" ha ha. It's soooo true. I always tell myself "this is the last time and this time I'll keep it off for good" but I don't actually DO it. It will be an important focus for me once I lose this weight.

I need to seriously understand that this isn't just a diet to get where I want to be, but this is a way of staying healthy for me and my family until the day I die. I need to walk the walk and not just say I'm going to do something but understand that it's worth it and will make my life so much more fulfilling if I do it.

Thanks for your input.

Welcome!
I too have lost and re-gained above and beyond.
We can do this! We've done it before. We know what it takes.
Keep posting, and we'll all get there together and STAY THERE this time!
