Does anyone know how to do their own acrylic nails? I'm talking the white french tip ones. I know how to do like the natural look because the base is bigger so it covers most of my nail but the white tips are small and I have goofy shaped nails. How do I make the tips stick better?

I like the ones were you can create your own nail. Ya know the powder with some liquid stuff. I find it works out alot better at least for me. You might try that, it will take a bit more work but the results are better. Then all you have to do is get the nail polish and paint away.

Yeah, I use that stuff! The problem I was having was that the tip wouldn't stick to my nail. Like the glue wasn't as sticky. I bought a new pack and that didn't work either.

Never done a fake set myself, I just do a french manicure on my natural nails and keep them quite short and "squoval". Just wondering, unrelated to nails, has anyone done foil highlights at home? I have medium/dark blonde hair and I love highlights in it which I've had done professionally, just lately the salon prices have gone up by a lot and I thought I'm crafty and have some Clairol Nice N'Easy, tin foil and a comb. Am I looking at hair disaster?

I use to get fake nails all the time. I loved them (right now I'm too broke but homefully soon I can start again). I would go to the nail salon (you know the ones in the malls) and get the gel nails. They stay better then the acrlialic. They are also done with a clear powder therefore look more nautral. Lastly I don't like the places that don't use a drill the nails don't stay nearly as long.

My suggestion is also to take them off every two or three months and get a new full set put on to prevent any bacteria growth.

It'll be A LOT easier if you have a friend do it with you. They can see the top and the back of your head easier than you so they can help with deciding where to put the highlights.


I wish I could afford gels right now too. They do look a lot nicer.

Thanks Deathnotronic! I'll ask my good friend who is a beautician to help me. Hope you find a good way to fix your nails, I've had the gel nails and they're really good. I've done a pretty good job myself on my nails just by using a pastel pink, putting some Rimmel white nail polish on the tips and then a layer of clear gloss on top.

I guess I didn't create tips, I created whole new nails. I knew if I tried tips they would just break because I have consta weak nails naturally. The way I did it was to take a rough grit nail file and file at the nail bed a bit and then the nail will "stick" better. If you have any type of powder, lotion, soap anything on the nail when your forming them it wont stick too well either. After I file them, I always my hands with a nail brush to be sure I clean the surface well. Then create the nails and file again wash again then paint
