Default OMGoodness, I ATE WAFFLE HOUSE--help me

Hi Ladies.

I have just returned from a short trip. Yesterday we had been driving for hours in the country. I was so hungry I could have pulled over and cooked one of the cows littering the countryside although I don't eat red meat anymore! We finally came to a small town and the only thing there was (GULP) a Waffle House.

Please help me determine what my intake was for my meal. I am having trouble getting info. on the net.

Ham and Cheese Omlette
1 Hashbrown
1 Biscuit with Gravy

I have to say I wasn't hungry for probably 8 hours after I ate this. It has been 15 years since I have eaten at a WH but I have to say, it was good. I don't believe in "cheat meals" per se but this had to qualify.

I'd say it was yesterday. Eat light today and move on. Next time have snacks available so you don't overdo it.

LOL, yes to both of those ideas! Yes, I definitely needed to plan better. I did well most of the trip. I took about 20 clementine oranges and a sack of apples. I used these for my snacks about 90 percent of the time.

My biggest mistake yesterday morning was choosing to eat an apple and three clementines for breakfast. My family had stopped at McDonalds on the road and I didn't want anything there. I would have been fine but we dug for diamonds (my daughter is really into Geology) all morning long. By the time we reached Waffle House it was about 2:00. So, I was famished. I would have been okay if I had my oatmeal or some protein of some sort.

If you want to know what your calorie intake was, here is a nutrition guide for waffle house. Life isn't perfect and neither are we Take some protein with you on your next car trip.

You should have asked for whole grain bread and an egg white omlette with cheese. That is what I usually get when I am trying to stay on plan. It is quite filling. We don't have them in florida so I haven't gone in forever. Oh well, move on

I don't believe in cheat meals for myself because it encourages a binge. On the foods I am currently eating, I am satiated and happy and 100% content. The times I have difficulty is when I ingest junk--starchy white junk and sweets mostly. I find once I take them, I want more of them an hour later.

That being said, I know friends that look forward to their cheat meals or cheat days and seem to suffer no ill effects from them so everyone must do what works for them.

Great idea on the egg whites and English muffin thing. I did have a look on the menu for healthier options but on this particular menu, there wasn't anything listed. With me being so hungry, I just caved.

The good news is that I still lost -.5 pound on the trip total.

I don't agree or disagree with cheat meals. When I eat a lot or eat out, I just. . . ate a lot that day. I don't "make up for it" either.

I mean, if you overate 1000 calories one day because you went out to eat, that's like, 1/3 of a pound. Ooh. If your are losing 1-2 pounds a week, it's not going to make much of a difference overall. You might just lost 1pound that week instead of 1.5 . The total weekly deficit is much greater than one large meal. And a waffle house is worth it, I think.
