Default A New Resolution for a New Year

Hello. I have been absent from here for a while. I usually read through the forums and don't even know if I've ever posted in the past.

To try and make a long story short...my mother has medical issues due to years of ignoring her diabetes and it has caught up with her (partial foot amputation). My aunt now has diabetes and had lap band surgery last year. I don't want to end up like either one of them.

I know that my excessive eating and lack of exercise stem from emotional issues and can pretty much pinpoint them. Due to years of this though, I have low self esteem (gee, anyone ever heard of that? LOL!) and lack motivation other than what I see happening to my family. Yet that still doesn't really slap me in the face to do something. So I am trying something new this year. I am going to learn how to love myself and have a better attitude.

So if anyone has inspirational words (no religious, please), stories or just a plain ole pat on the back for me from time to time (we all need it...), I would appreciate it. I am also willing to do the same for others!

Wow! That was a really long hello...sorry! But anyway, hello all!

Hello, and

You definitely CAN do this, and set up your health to be in a much better place. All it takes is a decision, followed by a firm commitment. If you can give that, you're golden.

We have many groups here, by eating plan, age range, amount to lose, and many others...also, we have lots of challenges, both short and long-term, that are great for a kick in the butt.

So look around, find a spot, and get started. Can't wait to get to know you better!

Ahhhh 7:23am and my first day of trying not to eat crap! Why do I want the chinese food in the fridge?

I lost 40 pounds before and have now gained it back. I guess what worked for me was "being alert". Once I let my guard down I somehow end up at a drive thru with fries and a big mac (large please). One of my resolutions which I hope will break my of this habit is: No eating anywhere with a drive thru!!

We can do this!!!

Happy New Year!
