Ideas for Low-Cal Christmas Baking??

  • Does anyone have any good recipes for the upcoming holiday season?
I have 4 kids, and every year we have a BIG tradition, where we bake and bake and bake Yummy goodies to share with friends, families, and give away for gifts. This year I would like to make some low-calorie sweets so I can join in and eat a little. What about things like fudge, Christmas cookies, no bake cookies, that yummy chex mix that has powdered sugar, and I think melted chocolate or peanut butter mixed in with the sugar and chex mix (there has to be a low-cal recipe for that one, right )
What will all of you be baking this year?
    Thanks
    Cathy
  • This might sound odd, especially because it's not "Christmas-y", but I love to make fortune cookies! They're really low in calories, I think only like 30 per cookie, and they're fun too... putting messages and stuff in them. I make seperate batches for people and put in messages depending on my relationship with them, making sure to NOT mix up the ones for my boyfriend/ boyfriend mom especially, haha!

Also, this one is kinda obvious, but I make most of the cookies regular size, except like 5 which I make about 1/2 size, and let myself eat those. Either I can make them last a week, or eat them all in a day... either way I can only have those, and they're 1/2 the calories with ALL the taste!
  • Check out the Hungry Girl website. She has a TON of recipes on her site that are lower calorie/fat versions of favorites. I receive her emails, and just a couple of days ago she sent out a recipe for reduced calorie/fat pumpkin cranberry bread!
