  • So, I could really use some help! I need some new fun music to listen to when I work out. The same old music isn't cutting it anymore. Any suggestions as to what keeps you motivated or what you are listening to?? I'll listen to just about anything!
  • dance hall, 80's and early 90's rock with some newer stuff thrown in, some angry punk and just a smidge of the Purple Rain soundtrack...this is my usual that keeps me going.

    BTW: welcome to the board!
  • honestly? I don't listen to a lot of top 40 stuff EXCEPT when I'm working out. Anything that's got a good beat to it and something really catchy seems to help out. My ipod is currently dead so I'll tell you a few things on my jogging playlist
    a LOT of rihanna...lol
    Gwen Stefani
    Miley Cyrus
    Britney Spears
    Justin Timberlake

none of the stuff that I would play while driving

    Kanye West – Stronger
Mika – Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)
Wreckx-n-Effect – Rump Shaker – (ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM)
Ok Go – Here It Goes Again (if those guys can dance on the treadmills, I can at the very least walk on them briskly)
Missy Elliot - Shake Your Pom Pom (hilarious)
Robert Randolph & the Family Band - Aint Nothing Wrong With That (funky and stompy!)
Fefe Dobson - Watch Me Move

Fort Minor – Remember the Name
  • oooh you know what song is great? Evil by Interpol. It has slow parts but for the most part it makes me want to get up off my butt
  • Fergie - The duchess CD is AWESOME!
    Sarah Bareillis
    Michael Jackson - Thriller remix
    Madonna
    Beyonce
I like all the top 40 stuff, anything peppy, dance mixes and salsa too. I spin, so it has to be uptempo and motivating!
  • Haha, it appears that I'm the odd one out... I like to listen to Drum n Bass and goa-like stuff when I'm working out. I find that it really makes me want to be active. Just listening to a song when I'm quietly sitting behind my computer makes me bounce the room around sometimes. Some band names are Pendulum, Infected Mushroom, Noisia, Freestylers, Kim And Buran.
  • Bass Hunter
  • I Love To Workout To! Danity Kane! And Justin Timberlake! And Anything That Can Get Me! Going!!
  • Caligirl: Thanks for the welcome!

leighish-never heard that interpol song, going to check it out

Haha, yeah I listen to top 40 when im working out and in the car..lol
  • FAMILY FORCE 5.

    Seriously...

    They'll keep you pumpin'.
  • Mmm, for working out nothing beats some NYC glam pop for me... in other words, Scissor Sisters! Filthy/Gorgeous is of course supreme, and so is I Don't Feel Like Dancing.

    Other fave work-out songs:
Flavor of the Weak - American Hi-Fi (we all have our guilty pop-punk pleasures, mmk? This is mine.)
Neighborhood #3 (Power Out) and Rebellion (Lies) - Arcade Fire (upbeat indie with strings and bells!)
C'est la Vie - B*Witched (okay, another guilty pleasure... it's my childhood!)
Wait - The Beatles ('nuff said)
California Girls - The Beach Boys (again, 'nuff said.)
Loser - Beck ('90s slacker alternative rock can motivate you? Whoa!)
Rasputin - Boney M (fun and funky disco.)
Never, Never Gonna Give You Up; The Distance; Never There; Love You Madly - all by CAKE (favorite band EVER.)
Just Can't Get Enough - Depeche Mode (wayyyy dancey. '80s synth gold.)
Light My Fire - The Doors
Hungry Like the Wolf - Duran Duran (Oh yeah. Ohh yeah.)
Inside Out - Eve 6 (Good beat, great lyrics.)
Pardon Me and Privilege - Incubus (These are the angry type of motivational.)
Somebody to Love - Jefferson Airplane
Ooh La - The Kooks (Happy modern indie, great vocals.)
Love Me or Hate Me - Lady Sovereign (Ahahaha. Hilarious! A rapping briton!)
Brandy (You're a Fine Girl) - Looking Glass
Paper Planes - M.I.A. (It's chill AND fun to work out to!)
Un coup d'eouil dans le métro - MC Solaar (Y'know, if you're into French rap.)
You Get What You Give - New Radicals (Classic '90s teenage attitude.)
(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay - Otis Redding
Start Me Up - The Rolling Stones
    Car Wash - Rose Royce
Wow, I Can Get Sexual Too - Say Anything (not for the faint of heart...)
Summer Breeze - Seals & Crofts
Say You'll Be There - Spice Girls (Another taste of my childhood!)
Saw Red - Sublime and Gwen Stefani (ANY ska will do, but this is a favorite of mine.)
Turning Japanese - The Vapors (upbeat and lyrics that are irresistible to sing along to!)

That oughtta be enough to keep you moving! All very eclectic. I don't like to get bored with my music. :P
  • it depends what mood i'm in, but usually i'll pick either some uplifting trance (armin van buuren, tiesto, ferry corsten, above & beyond, etc) or some cheesy pop songs that always get me bopping no matter where i am (rhianna, mika, black eyed peas, pat benetar, kylie minogue, no doubt, etc.)
  • nikewomen.com has a good playlist that changes every month. In addition google "fitpod" they have playlists you can download. They are indexed by beats per minute so you can match it with the workout intensity.
  • Ah...say anything... Yeah that would be a good song to add.
