After stumbling across this board a few days ago and spending some time browsing the threads, I joined up last night. It looks to be a great supportive place.
Currently, I am about halfway through removing about 45 lbs from my body. I had a bout of real bad itching from psoriasis back in March, and read that there may be a connection to an overgrowth of yeast on the outside of the body. One of the suggestions was to try an elimination diet (no wheat, no yeast, no sugars, no vinegars or anything aged...basically nothing processed). I went on it, and within a week about 80% of my psoriasis cleared up. I have hardly had an outbreak since. My body is quite sensitive to anything I eat - I have IBS and tend to reject foods rather fast. It makes me wonder sometimes how I manage to gain weight when food slides through me so quickly. When my body is acting up, I am hungry all the time as nothing stays in long so I tend to overeat.
As well, the same week I started to eat healthy, a friend asked if I lifted weights. I said yes as I have done so in the past and absolutely love the sport. She got me back in the gym with her, and I have not looked back since. I lift weights 2x a week, and do yoga 1 or 2x. Sometimes I ride my bike. I waitress and bartend so walk about 25 hours a week, and I tend to avoid cardio...and I REALLY need to be doing it - I hate sweating!

So far, I have removed about 21 lbs. I have been stuck in a bit of a rut the last couple of weeks and am maintaining, but am not losing. I am starting to crave sweets like a fiend, flour too. I have had a bit, and my body just rejects it. I have had no troubles getting to the gym, it is the eating that I am starting to fumble a bit with. Usually my calories are within range, I just am not as strict as I have been in the past. I usually have one splurge day a week, and don't feel guilty for it no matter what I eat. Oh, and I track my food/activities daily over at fitday.com. My weakness is sugar, ice cream in particular. To satisfy ice cream cravings, I make smoothies with frozen bananas, protein powder, ice cubes, milk and sometimes cocoa or instant decaf or other fruit added in.
Thats about it. I love learning new things, and sharing information. This looks to be a great site, and I look forwards to partaking in the forums.

Lou
