Actually . . . drinking lemon-water helps to avoid/resolve water retention problems and I don't think hot or cold makes any difference in that regard and it certainly isn't harmful, unless you have other problems with an overly acidic system.

Other than the water retention thing, I can't imagine that it has any mystic weight-loss powers though. Apparently, we burn one or two extra calories drinking cold water vs hot water, but my guess would be that the hot water in the morning might be beneficial in getting 'other things moving'.

I love drinking hot water! I always get a raised eyebrow or two by family members when I do it though. (they think it tastes awful)

I second that it will help with water retention, but doubt it will make noticable changes in weight loss on it's own. I find it similar to doing yoga though - it's not really a cardiovascular workout so wouldn't help with weight loss as much as doing aerobics for the same ammount of time, but the other health benefits make it worth it.

I say go ahead and drink some hot water with lemon, just don't expect magic results.

When you drink ice water your body has to work harder to bring the water to the right temp.

but for hot water i feel it just makes you feel full I love hot tea

I remember from college human biology the professor saying that the body uses energy (burns calories) to both heat and cool the body, but that both are done so efficiently that you can't "count" any calories burned from the process.

For myself, hot liquids make me feel less hungry. I think it's the hot=food association. But, they also make me sleepy, and I associate them with being sick. I used to have terrible sinus problems, and drank lots of hot liquids to help, but when I found that cayenne worked better than hot temperature, I started making cold cayenne lemonade (sounds terrible, and is a very weird experience, but it decongests better than prescription stuff).

Hot water in the morning will probably help with ... bowel habits ... though.

Ive heard about cold water burning calories because your body has to bring it to temperature, but never about the hot water thing, but i know lemons good for cutting the fat so i guess it works! lol
