Another newbie

  • Hi,
    I'm Moondance. 42 yo, 14 & 11 yo daughters. Married 17 years. Weight 199 lbs yesterday morning.

I've been out of the weight-loss scene for awhile...discouraged that I can't stick to a healthy eating plan, lose a goal amount of weight, or keep any weight that I do lose off.

I really want to make changes and I'm getting geared up to do it. I'll be doing the South Beach diet. I've done it before and like it a lot. Restricting carbs is the best approach for me; Atkins was a bit too extreme for my taste.

I won't be able to post as much as I would like, but I'll be reading. What really helps me is to establish closer "friendships" with a few people so we can offer support and keep an eye out for one another, but still being part of the larger group.

Thanks for reading this and I look forward to getting to know you all.

  • Hi Moondance!

I love reading all the goal and mini-goal stories and especially love looking at the photos! It is such an encouragement to me, especially when the scale seems "stuck" no matter what I do--then I am soooo tempted to go off points (I'm on WW), but I have looked at the photos and then I know emotionally, as well as intellectually, that this IS POSSIBLE!

Join me and the other nutcases on the 40-something chatter thread!

  • Hi and
  • Moondance

Not all of us can post at the same time either. I am 46 and the sight I found most helpful is the 40somethings. Great group of gals that share there stories, inspiration, downfalss, etc. Also there is a southbeach diet forum that might be helpful. Good luck on the journey. You can do this
