Default new here, need support!

Hi everyone, I just registered on the site, starting a diet and exercise plan tomorrow. To tell you a little about myself, I just turned 22, have been overweight my entire life. I'm pretty sure I was never a healthy weight. I went to the doctor today and had to step on the scale. Basically, they couldn't weigh me in the room I was in. The scale didn't go past 300lbs. I had to go into a different room with a different scale. This one went up to 350lbs. I couldn't help but think how long before they won't be able to weigh me at all?? But, after leaving I still made a stop at the supermarket and loaded my cart with Ben and Jerry's. For dinner I ate an entire package of Perdue chicken nuggets, half a bag of french fries, a package of rice, and a 2 liter bottle of diet coke. It was about an hour later I was just sitting here and I think it really clicked this time. I got up and threw out all the junk I bought today. Right now I'm in that frame of mind where I feel I can actually do this, but I'm not sure how long it will last. I'm realistically optimistic though. I don't have any kind of support at home, which is why I'm hoping I'll be able to find some here. Okay this is long enough, sorry for going on and on!

Welcome!

Well done for taking the first step!

Do you know how youre going to go about it? Dont worry if it takes a couple of goes to find the best method for you. The thing that will really help is exercise of course, whats your favourite thing to do?

Welcome!!

Making a commitment to a healthier you IS a great first step. And yay for throwing away the food.

If it's overwhelming at first, you can start by taking baby steps. I began by bringing lunches and snacks to work and otherwise watching portions. Now I calorie count, eat a lot of lean meats, fruits and veggies and whole grains. I am a regular exerciser and do weight lifting and yoga. But it all started with a long term commitment and making some changes. You CAN do it!!!

Welcome, welcome!

Congratulations on making the "click" -- I think that's the most important step in the beginning. Perspectives shift, and those can be ultimately incredibly liberating.

This place is incredibly supportive, so it's good that you found your way here.

Lots of little steps will get you where you want to be.

Best wishes, and glad to have you here!

Thank you all so much for being so welcoming! I'm really excited about this forum, I couldn't wait to get home to go online lol. I had a really great day today. I just started a blog to keep track of what I'm doing. I'm doing my own thing right now, counting calories and just keeping track of what I'm eating. I'm thinking about starting Weight Watchers next week, I haven't decided yet. I'm going to see how this goes first. For exercise, today I walked three miles in a park. I also like those Richard Simmons dance videos from 20 years ago lol. And I love that my cable has exercise on demand. I'm not going to do anything to strenuous yet, like you said Heather it's all about baby steps. I have to tell you that it's really motivating to see how successful you all have been. I was looking in the pictures forum and it's really amazing how far you've come. Hopefully in a few months I'll have a nice after picture to show too! Thanks again and I hope to get to know all of you soon!
