I've been concerned for quite awhile about how I have to plan my life around food. Eat every two to four hours or I get "fuzzy". But, when is that going to turn in to a bad habit of grazing? I've read so much about people who regain some of their weight because of grazing. I miffed because before the RNY I planned my life around food and it seems like I'm still doing it!! I guess I'm venting more than anything, but I'm always EATING!!!! Does anyone want to share what their eating during the day?
Breakfast: Either 1/2 c. of 10 grain cereal with two table spoons of yogurt with stevia or three turkey sausages with 1 inch banana or four strawberries
Next: 4 to 6 oz of protein drink or 1/2 of protein bar
Lunch: 3-4 oz of chicken breast and couple tablespoons of black and white bean salad
Next: 4 to 6 oz of milk or cottage cheese
Supper: Two meatballs with marinara sauce, four bites of baked steak and 1/2 cup of lettuce, beets, bean salad, cukes (went to a buffet)
Next: Chia protein tea
Next: 1/4 c. yogurt with two chopped slices of apples.
I know I'm coming along with my weight loss, but I'm tired of eating constantly. And I have to fit my water in between all of this and supplements. I've tried to eat more at one setting, but just can't do it. And when I exercise, I'm really, really hungry. Weird because before surgery, exercise use to cut down my appetite. Guess it is time to talk with my NUT! Yikes! My biggest fear is "grazing" and regaining. Any suggestions? Or is this it? Anyone else with this problem?
OT: Whitelion, if you don't let me know you are okay, I'm calling the cops!!!
LOL!!!
I think this is the main reason that my Dr. told me to only have breakfast, lunch and dinner and NO SNACKING!! Some days I have a hard time getting in all of my protein and other days it's easy. I need 75 grams per day and I get 66 of those from 2 protein drinks. At first I didn't understand why he didn't want me to eat 4-5 small meals and after I talked with him he told me that he feels that it does indeed start bad habits....see, I didn't snack before WLS.
I know from posting on another board that some Drs and NUTs encourage their patients to have snacks or "small meals" during the day. I guess that everyone sort of has a different plan.....to me that's a bit confusing. But, I also think that everyone has to do what works for them. What works for me might not work for the next person....and so on.
Since I only have the three meals per day I find it very easy to get all of my water in.
I would encourage you to talk to your NUT. I'm only 8 weeks out and I'm not sure how long ago you had your surgery or what type...maybe those are some of the differences????
Hope everything works out for you. It's all a learning experience and I totally understand what you mean when you say you use to base your day around food....I use to wake up in the morning thinking about what I was going to eat....SAD...but SO, SOOOO true!!

listen up, girls!!!!! <and i actually had a reminder over the weekend - as i was cleaning up and packing because of mom's passing, i came across my post-op booklet!>
for the first PERIOD OF TIME [like, up to 3 months - although this time is flexible], there's NO WAY we can eat enough at any one time to carry us through 4-5 hours without food. But, as time goes on - and if you're still eating every 3 hours or so after 6 months, you need to think about whether or not you're grazing - 3 meals and a snack really and truly should do it.
now, do i practice this?? ummm. well. let's just say that some days are better than others, and i AM getting back to this!!!!!
I can honestly say that there are days when I snack more than others. If I make breakfast for my family- you know eggs and all that jazz- I find I snack less but if I just eat a bowl of oatmeal of some fruit I am looking for something late. Usually some more fruit or veggies and dip or something. I am finding the more substantial my meals the less that I snack. So I now try to eat more rounded meals. With at least 3/4 of my plate being lean protein and veggies. My husband thought I was nutz when I wanted to buy a new dinner service and I was more concerned about the size of the plates than I was a pattern. He just doesn't get it. He eats whatever he wants and may pack on a few lbs over the winter but loses it within the first 4 weeks of spring.
