Upright Exercise Bike Recommendations

  • I have a treadmill but I want to mix it up (and take it easy on my knees some days) so I want to also purchase an upright exercise bike. I would appreciate some recommendations. I need something sturdy and good quality, but not too expensive. I'd like to keep the purchase under $400. I've been checking product reviews on sites like Sears, but I am yet to find a bike in my price range that has glowing reviews.
  • Hi! Sorry I don't have a direct answer for you. But, do you by chance own a bike? If you do, you might look into a "bicycle trainer," essentially a stand you can mount your regular bike on inside and use it like a exercise bike. I use mine during the winter and when the weather is too icky for me to go outside. Just a thought!
  • Hi there!

I LOVE my Schwinn Airdyne because it provides an upperbody workout too! I know they aren't cheap (we bought mine new for $649) but they CAN be found used in your price range and there are some that perform like the Airdyne in your price range too. When you want to rest your knees you can pump with your arms - also, the spinning fan wheel provides a nice Breeze, which is also nice!

  • I have a Proform recumbent from Sears, which I bought back in 2000. I've never had any problems with it. Unfortunately, they don't sell the exact model anymore.

  • I just bought this one, but it hasn't came yet. It's way under your price range, and people seem to like it. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Stamina-Ai...t-Bike/7680163
