Tell me what you think if this situation

  • Friend (actually, friend of a friend, not really a close friend by any means)
    Colors hair,
I usually go into her salon (lets call it Luigi's LOL) and she cuts me a deal, either charges me the cheapest rate about 30ish, or nothing, I go in about 2x a year for about the last 5 years. Mind you I tip 10 or 20 right to her pocket on those times.
I call her to see when she wants me to come in, she says she is not working now and wants me to come over or she can come by my house, neither of us have been to eachother's house.---this conversation is from sunday
Okay, so I say come over Wed if you can, she says cool.
Wednesday comes, she is having car issues, can't come, but maybe thursday
    okay fine,
Thursday comes, same issues, she doesn't offer me to come to her, okay fine,
she says Friday, I say i'm busy,
but I got free tonight so I tell her that, she says she's coming over @ 9ish, cool
    (night hours not a problem)
she calls @ 830 says she has no money for gas, so can i come to her? no. I can't drive at night- I know i'm a dork,
so I go to cash station take out 40$
told her she can come or not, just let me know don't care
she says okay more like 10 pm,
i say ok, send her directions (about 25 minutes away)
so, i doubt she is coming tonight but I seriously think it's kind of funny (instead of being all stressy, that's what they pay me for at work, right? LOL)
so who thinks she is actually coming?
do you think 40$ is enough, (in the rare chance that she is coming)?
am i in the wrong here somewhere?
  • wow..sounds like not such a dependable person!

I would say $40 is probably enough..but since she's buying supplies out of her own pocket it might need to be more...eeek!
  • As an aspiring Hairstylist myself and a Makeup Artist, I believe you should always follow through on your clients appointments, friends or not. If it's a legit reason (someone died, health reason, etc.) then I can see it, but the ones she's been giving you have been a little odd to me. In my opinion, if she had been reliable, $40 would seem a bit lower, however I think $40 is perfect in your situation.
  • ask her!
  • did she make an appearance??? lol . i cant believe how much a haircut is over there lol .. we complain about our $18 haircuts here.. .

She probably lost her job for never turning up lol...

i would seriosly would find someone new to cut my hair if i was you..
  • So...did she come??

My best friend is a stylist and she would always cut my hair and color for free and I would tip her. She did it for a few people that weren't that good of friends and she started getting sick of doing it and felt almost like they were taking advantage of their "friendship." Being that is her way of making a living and she felt if they were friends, they would understand that is how she feeds her family. Perhaps your friend is not feeling the deal anymore? Just a thought...since she is suddenly flakey? Hope it works out though. I kind of think $40 is fair since she is coming to you. I also think you could get a decent haircut somewhere else for $40 if she is going to be a flake.

No, she flaked again. I am not making plans with here again unless she is AT the salon. Silly girl!
